Exceptional experience from start to finish! Our guide Chin was fantastic—extremely patient, knowledgeable, and gave great explanations that brought the history of Wat Umong and Doi Suthep to life. The transfer was smooth and it was worth every penny!
We had tour guide Sunny and driver Boy who were very interactive and polite throughout the tour. Sunny was very fluent in English and her explanation was detailed and understandable. She was flexible in taking good pictures of us at many spots. She guided us through the temples history and Buddhism and we were able to see a prayer by monk in the evening session which was very calming. Entire trip was pretty smooth and we enjoyed the view of Chiang Mai.
It was amazing tour and very interesting place to visit, my only complaint is , the depart should be at 4:30 and not 3:30 as is too long time inside Doi Suthep waiting for the sunset to see the city in the night. otherwise tour was really nice and the tour guide very funny.
Our tour guide was very insightful regarding the life of a monk. Our tour was splendid! The guide cared for us and provided us with umbrellas because there was light rain that day. Our guide even wrote our names in Thai!
This tour consists of Wat Umong and Doi Suthep. I was wondering whether to visit by public transportation or Grab, so I saw the tour and made a reservation. It was disappointing that we couldn't see the night view of Doi Suthep and Chiang Mai on the half-day tour, but the guide kindly explained Thailand's Buddhist culture and life in detail despite the small number of people. I would like to thank the guide who always smiled, explained things, and took pictures even though there were only a small number of people.
I received a call via WhatsApp late the day before (I wrote down my contact information on WhatsApp) and confirmed that I would meet in front of McDonald's at 3 o'clock. It was a small group tour, so there were 4 people including me on the tour in the city on the way to Wat Umong and Doi Suthep. He kept telling me stories about Chiang Mai's history and temples. The car was spacious and cool, and they provided water. It was nice that the door opened and closed when getting off. I had a lot of luggage, so I left all my luggage in the car except for the important things when getting off and seeing things. (This can be done on tours (especially small groups). I think it's an advantage of the tour) It was good that they explained various things well, both at Wat Umong and at Doi Suthep. At Doi Suthep, they looked around the murals and talked about Buddhism. The temple was really beautiful, and at Doi Suthep, it was just in time for the monks to chant. It was even better because I could go and see them chanting, preaching, circling the pagoda, etc. I went to Doi Suthep before sunset, watched the chanting, and left after sunset, so it was nice to be able to see both the daytime and night views. Plus, the colorful decorations were really reflected in the light. It's beautiful. It was really nice even if it wasn't lit up at night + You have to take off your shoes to go inside Wat Umong or Doi Suthep, so it would be a good idea to bring black socks or something you can easily wipe your feet with.
I booked this for my brother. He had fun just as much as we did! Good thing he decided to join us. I just hoped there was a way to add one more headcount to my other booking under the same tour.
The tour guide Jin is perfect during the whole trip. Although it’s a half day trip, the management of time is perfect. In addition, thanks to Jin’s explanations, we can have a glimpse of the history of two temples. If we came here without joining the group, it will be a pity of not knowing the background and the history of them. Highly recommended, and thanks to Jin again for his help during the whole journey!
I dont know why the guide was really bothered about the reviews which we give rather than explaining about the tour, fine it’s needed but the tour itself should not be about the reviews right ? time is too short and I felt it’s not worth the price, I am only giving 5/5 for the guide because she was good else 0 for this tour
We enjoy this trip because we were able to experience the monk’s chanting which is not often seen in public. The places Wat Umong and Doi Suthep are nice especially Doi Suthep. We were able to see the view of Chiangmai while we were at Doi Suthep since it is located above the mountain
