What to expect

Sumo wrestling is one of Japan's most iconic traditional sports, and touring exhibitions are special matches held in cities across the country, allowing wrestlers to perform outside of the formal tournament setting. Compared to the official tournaments, touring exhibitions have a more relaxed pace and are better suited for tourists experiencing sumo for the first time.

This tour will take you to Yokohama Pia Arena to watch a sumo wrestling touring exhibition live. You can fully experience everything from the wrestlers' entrance and pre-match rituals to the official matches. The matches are fast-paced and straightforward, so even if you don't know the rules, you can quickly understand what's happening.

The tour departs from Tokyo on the same day and travels to Yokohama by public transportation. The itinerary is just one day, and you can leave after watching the match, so it won't affect your subsequent personal travel plans. This tour is perfect for tourists who want to experience Japanese traditional culture within a limited amount of time.

Exhibition matches have a more relaxed atmosphere than formal competitions, making them more suitable for people who are new to sumo.

Sumo wrestlers have exaggerated physiques, but their movements are not slow at all. What really matters is explosive power and stability.
