What to expect
Experience authentic pottery in Kyoto with guidance from a nationally certified artisan. Unlike large, tourist-style workshops, this experience is limited to a maximum of 5 guests, allowing for careful one-on-one instruction tailored to each participant’s pace and skill level. You will begin with the essential clay preparation process known as “tsuchikoroshi,” a step usually prepared in advance in most workshops. By experiencing this important foundation yourself, you can better understand the balance, pressure, and concentration required in Japanese pottery. During the session, the artisan will carefully guide you through wheel throwing while allowing enough freedom for you to truly feel that the piece is your own creation.
