Tokyo Authentic Sumo Experience - Master the Art of Sumo
This is a unique experience you can only have here, where you can learn sumo directly from makuuchi wrestlers and professional sumo wrestlers. There are currently around 700 active sumo wrestlers, but only 40 can achieve the rank of makuuchi, the top class of wrestlers. Although women are traditionally prohibited from entering the sumo ring, this facility allows men, women, and children to participate so that more guests can enjoy the experience. Train alongside the wrestlers and learn about sumo techniques and culture. You can have a photoshoot wearing a mawashi that you normally can’t wear. We promise this will be an unforgettable experience you won’t find anywhere else.

We had an incredible experience at the family sumo session and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Japan. The experience felt intimate and exclusive, making it so much more personal than we expected. Hearing Tensi share stories from his 17-year career in sumo and learning what it takes to become a sumo master was fascinating. He explained the traditions, techniques, and culture in a way that was engaging for both adults and children. The highlight for our family was the hands-on experience. Our son absolutely loved learning the techniques and even getting the chance to go one-on-one with a real sumo master—an experience he’ll never forget! It was interactive, authentic, and so much fun. Thank you for giving our family such a unique insight into the world of sumo. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan!
This shop is in Ginza, quite close to our hotel. I saw videos of others' experiences on Xiaohongshu and then an advertisement online, so I booked this one. The location is a bit hard to find; it's downstairs in a shopping mall called Ginza Inz1. Those coming can search for the mall's location in advance. Overall, it's quite suitable for beginners to experience. Be sure to actively raise your hand to participate (especially raising your hand for a friend, haha!), and you'll get lots of sumo photos of your friends, haha! It was more authentic than I expected; I thought it would just be for fun, but I didn't realize it was an experience where you could actually participate on a sumo stage. The price is quite worth it!
Amazing experience! They were very accommodating in translating everything. I learned a lot about sumo and even got to try some training. It was super fun and truly a great experience (and definitely a good workout!).
We had an absolutely incredible time at the Tokyo Sumo Festival! Getting hands-on training from a Makuuchi wrestler was an amazing opportunity. The entire experience was well-organized, fascinating, and deeply authentic. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tokyo!"
what a fantastic experience, love every minute. The team were amazing, Tyson and hiroko were great. we would definitely recommend you really get to get stuck in and try some of the techniques.
Great experience with amezing sumo masters, i truly valued the time i got to spend with these masters, next time i am coming to japan i will do it again, thanks.
Had an amazing time learning, training, and fighting amongst real sumo wrestlers. The workouts were real and intense! Thank you to the sumo wrestlers and staff that helped us on the day!
An unforgettable, authentic sumo experience! Must-do in Tokyo! If you are visiting Japan, you cannot miss this! Learning directly from a former professional sumo wrestler was a humbling and eye-opening experience. Wearing the authentic mawashi and step onto the dohyo made me feel like a real rikishi for a moment. The training—from shiko to suriashi—was tough, and my legs were definitely burning by the end, but getting to actually spar with a former pro in the ring was thrilling! You even get to try on a keisho-mawashi and take amazing photos. The staff were super friendly and the whole operation was seamless (they even provided clothes, so you don't need to bring anything). At the end, we received personalized certificates which made a great souvenir. This wasn’t just a tourist activity; it was a deep dive into the discipline, tradition, and physicality of sumo. 100% recommended!
Everyone was super friendly, especially to my kids. It was a different experience from just watching a match. My kids loved how hands on it was! We even got an autographed handprint as a souvenir. Highly recommended!
was such a fun new experience. we got humbled by their strength and skill. also was nice to learn basic sumo techniquesn!
