This one-day tour was a very nice trip. It is a great way to see Mount Aso and Takachiho. Even though it was raining and cloudy, I was still impressed by the atmosphere. Also, our guide, Ada, was incredibly nice and friendly. She spoke English, Chinese, and Japanese to help us. It is well worth the trip, and I highly recommend it!
The Takachiho boat ride, Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine, and Kusasenri day trip itinerary includes many attractions, so it's important to manage your time carefully. Our guide, Yang Meng, thoughtfully emailed us important information the day before, and diligently introduced each site along the way. The driver was also very steady, allowing us to rest and sleep comfortably in the car. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We usually returned to Hakata city after 6:30 PM. If there's traffic or any delays, it could be even later. Therefore, if you plan to make dinner reservations, we recommend scheduling them for 7:30 PM or later to allow for more flexibility. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the Takachiho boat ride but doesn't have a car.
In September, when the grass grows and the orioles fly, we explore Kumamoto and Miyazaki. Mount Aso, located in the northeastern part of Kumamoto Prefecture on the Kyushu Island of Japan, is a famous active volcano in Japan and a symbol of Kumamoto. It is known for having one of the largest calderas in the world, with a total area of about 380 square kilometers. It resembles a huge scar on the earth, yet it is full of mysterious vitality. Kusasenri Plateau is a vast meadow that forms a sharp contrast with the smoking crater. The grassland is full of cattle and sheep, and the distant mountains are picturesque. You can take a walk, have a picnic, or experience outdoor activities such as horseback riding. Takachiho, a mysterious land located in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, is a gathering place for natural wonders and the birthplace of Japanese mythology. Here, every inch of land seems to tell an ancient story, and every breath can feel the fusion of nature and culture. Last but not least, I am very grateful to our guide, Yang Meng, for her meticulous explanation and tireless service throughout the day, which made me feel her meticulous care even in a foreign country. Hope to see you again! _(•̀ω•́ 」∠)_
This was my second trip to Kyushu, and to save myself some trouble, I booked a one-day tour of Aso. Aside from the weather not cooperating—a huge downpour that soaked my pants and shoes—everything else was perfect! The schedule, route, transportation, and breaks were all very well-planned. On the way back, we even saw a rainbow and a stunning sunset. What truly stood out was our tour guide, Jimmy (Liu-san)—he was witty, humorous, patient, and meticulous. The itinerary was incredibly clear, and he covered every single detail, even things tourists hadn't thought of! It was a delightful surprise! A shout-out to the people of Changning; his opening with humorous Shanghainese-accented Mandarin and English was absolutely fantastic. I almost felt like I was listening to a stand-up comedy show by YouTuber Ethan's Dad, hahaha!
We had a fantastic day thanks to our guide, Kevin, who was incredibly knowledgeable, entertaining, and tireless in sharing stories and interesting facts. He made every stop special with brilliant and never-boring explanations, despite the terrible rainy weather. The tour was very well organized: Mount Aso in the morning, then Kusakabe Yoshimi Shrine, and in the afternoon, Takachiho Gorge with a boat ride. Highly recommended!
Great day out to Mt.Aso and Takachiho Gorge! Our tour guide Jimmy did a fantastic job, providing information about the journey with a touch of humour to keep us entertained, all while having to do the tour in both Chinese and English! The tour felt a little rushed at times, especially when going to Kusasenri/Mt.Aso but understandable considering what they packed in to the tour. Definitely recommend trying this, especially if you can go during good weather like we did!
I joined the Mount Aso-Takachiho-Kusasenri one-day tour today, and the tour guide was Yang Meng. The whole day was very comfortable. Both the guide and the driver were good at creating a lively atmosphere and told us many historical stories. I was very happy to participate in this trip, a five-star review. I hope to meet the guide again when I come to Fukuoka next time (heart). Finally, the guide recommended some restaurants that she thought were good and that locals would go to, which was very thoughtful. We also tried one of them, and it was delicious~ The tour guide also helped us take group photos throughout the trip, which was very considerate and patient, providing a full experience. I was also lucky enough to see the crater, hehe.
The weather was great that day, and I was so lucky to see the Aso volcano crater 👍🏻! Next, I took a bus to Kusasenri nearby. Although it wasn't the best time to see the lush green scenery, the vast landscape was still refreshing. In the afternoon, I arrived at the famous Takachiho Gorge to see some maple leaves and waterfalls. The beautiful scenery that I took in was truly breathtaking! Finally, I want to thank our lovely guide, Yang Meng. Thanks to her careful arrangements and detailed explanations, this trip was a great experience 🫶🏻.
