A must have experience for your trip! To start, you are in a beautiful historic neighborhood. Small class size (10 people) allows the instructor Sam to familiarize with everybody as well as communication between each other. Was impressed with the class’ diversity with country of origin. Plenty knowledge shared from Sam and laughs had with one another. Feel good knowing the leftover kimchi you make goes directly to impoverished citizens. But you also get to taste your own creation on its own as well, plus cooking pancake with aged kimchi complimented with pork and tofu.
Participating in this kimchi-making class with my daughter was the highlight of our trip! The setting was a beautiful, traditional space that felt both authentic and serene, providing the perfect atmosphere for learning. Sam was absolutely amazing !Super knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about the history of Korean cuisine. He made the process easy to follow, even for beginners, and shared fascinating insights into the fermentation process. If you’re looking for a hands-on cultural experience that combines tradition with great flavor, I cannot recommend this class enough!
This kimchi making experience was great and I can recommend it! Sam is a good conversationalist and also tell stories about life as a South Korean (so there’s a cultural touch/lesson once in a while). The class itself is well organised and for the summer time, it was nice to do everything in a nice aircontioned room 😅 Overall satisfied and can recommend if you’re looking for a kimchi class (with kimchi pancakes!).
Great and intimate kimchi cooking class with Sam – he is a very welcoming, kind and great person! Guided us through the process well and told us about the Korean culture at the same time. Would definitely recommend this class!
One of the highlights of our first trip to Korea - a fantastic way to get a little introduction to a Korean staple but also a fun and lively group because it was led by Sam who is so fun and knowledgable! The house is so lovely - we didn't just get the random passing exterior hanok photo - we got an authentic kimchi experience and a really delicious lunch with kimchi that we made ourselves. Of the three wonderful tours we did on our trip - this is the only tour we would definitely do again on our next trip. Thank you Sam! Both me and my 19 year old had a wonderful time! - Wendy and Brendan from California
I had a great experience at this kimchi-making class organized by Sam. The space was very clean and well-organized, which made the whole process feel comfortable and easy to follow. Sam communicated clearly both before and during the class, so we always knew what to expect and what to do next. The class itself was a lot of fun, and the group we were with made it even more enjoyable—everyone was friendly and engaged. One of the highlights was getting to enjoy a meal paired with the kimchi we made; everything was delicious and really brought the experience together. Overall, it was a well-run, enjoyable class that I would definitely recommend.
sam was really kind and knowledgeable and helped us to make some really yummy kimchi, the atmosphere was lovely and a great opportunity to talk to other travellers and learn about korean culture, would definitely recommend!
Sam and his wife Jay are fantastic hosts, and the class was excellent along with the food we made ourselves, we were served boiled pork and tofu that complemented the kimchi and kimchi pancakes perfectly.
Wow!!! It was great, funny, and entertaining. I learned how to make kimchi, and it was super helpful. I also got to meet new people. I'm super happy I booked the class. It's 101% worth it!! 🥰🥰
Sam and his family have a great kimchi family recipe that we were able to share and learn. I tried it with my Korean family, and they also found it very authentic. The Hanok is also worth experiencing. My conclusion: great hosts, great cooking instructor, great preparation, great location. 2 wonderful hours of getting closer to Korean culture through food. Thank you very much, and continued success 🌸🫶
