What to expect
The dishes comprising Vietnamese culinary repertoire are easily recognizable yet perplexingly difficult to define. Its culinary tradition employs rich coconut milk reminiscent of Thai cooking, French baguettes and pâté, Indian curries, Chinese five spice, soy sauce and fish sauce, asparagus, and fermented tofu ingredients thoroughly disparate that combine to render creations distinctly Vietnamese. In order to make sense of this complex cuisine one must delve deep into the country’s history, culture, and geography – elements that have shaped Vietnam’s rich culinary legacy. At the Provincial Table, we strive to more than guide guests through a series of recipes. The market tour and cooking class are designed to more than simply guide guests through a series of recipes

Levi, our cooking instructor was superb. He was so entertaining, shared so much information, and was really very engaging throughout the entire class. He was detailed about the ingredients, the steps, safety. The dishes we cooked were delicious. The entire set up was neat and clean. Strongly recommend Provincial, especially Levi.🥰
The day I went was during the off-season, and there were only four students in the class, including myself. We learned three dishes, and I especially loved the spring rolls and pancakes. The pho was incredibly delicious! The ingredients and seasonings used during the cooking process were very clean and conveniently pre-portioned. Even those unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine can easily pick it up. Our chef, Levi, was patient, responsible, and quite humorous, making for a very pleasant class atmosphere. I didn't feel awkward attending alone. Most importantly, the food we made was so fragrant and filling that I didn't have room for dinner that night. I think it was excellent value for money.
Best Vietnamese cooking experience at HCMC! We started the day with a visit to Ben Thanh market where we were introduced to local fruits, cooking ingredients and coffee. After the short tour, we traveled to the cooking school. On the day I visited, we made mango shrimp salad, chicken pho and bun la lot (grilled betel leaves). The instructor was lovely and the class was very well run!
Did the market tour + cooking class and didn’t regret choosing this option. The market tour not only showed us what ingredients they use and where it came from but also gave us suggestions on where we could buy it (great for people wanting to bring home the exact spices used in the class). The cooking class was very interactive and had a good instructor that didn’t rush us when we struggled with some steps. The dishes we made were also really delicious and it was so cool that each student had the chance to flambé the meat we used for the salad. Would recommend for those wanting to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine or maybe for those who simply want to have fun while eating good food🫶
Wonderful experience. The staff were very knowledgeable and entertaining. We were taught how to make rice paper rolls, Báhn Xèo and Phó. We then got to enjoy our own cooking. A must do experience if you are in HCMC.
It was a very good experience. The instructor was excellent at explaining the different dishes and how to cook them. I especially enjoyed the shaking beef; it was truly amazing. The menu was slightly different from the one posted online, so I assume the dessert changed. Everything else was the same. We cooked the pho, the shaking beef, and the spring rolls.
We had a great time with Miss Dyung. she taught us a lot about ingredients use in Vietnamese cuisine during market tour. We also were able to make 3 delicious menu with another mother and daughter pair from America. Miss Dyung also were anle to accommodate us since we request a seafood and vegetarian option since we can’t eat non halal food.Overall it was a great experience. We started the tour at 2pm and the class end near 6pm so it was worth your money. They also have a coffee making workshop (4 difftype of coffee) which we would love to take if we have another chance.
This was a really fun experience! I tried making local specialty dishes from scratch. Today's three dishes were Vietnamese spring rolls, shaking beef, and chicken pho. Each one was delicious, and food made with my own hands tasted even better. I especially want to commend Teacher Lucy; she was so warm and lovely 🥰, I really like her. If I have the chance to come again, I'd love to take her class and try making different dishes~ P.S. Taxis might not find the exact spot directly; it's down a small alley from the drop-off point.
Did this class on my birthday. Our instructor Lucy was so fun! She gives easy-to-follow instructions. She even let us flambe our beef for the salad, that was exciting. Everything we made was so good, I even got the Pho spices so I can try making some at home.
we had a great time learning how to cook Vietnamese dishes. It was very interesting and very fun. The market tour was also very interesting that we should all Ben Thanh is really Tourist targeted. HAHA. We also learn that the clean leftovers were actually given away to homeless people instead of food dump. very happy to know that. the instructor was also very nice and kind, her lesson was very interesting
