Fantastic 5.0
An absolute must-see – the Railway Museum in Saitama! Anyone with even a spark of enthusiasm for trains will love this museum. Spanning over 9,000 square meters, visitors can delve deep into the history of Japanese railways, featuring real locomotives, interactive exhibits, and impressive technological experiences. (Sumikai) Over 36 faithfully reproduced vehicles are on display, and thanks to lighting, music, and video effects, even stationary trains come to life. (ANA) The absolute highlight for me was the ride on the small mini-train – in that moment, you completely forget your age and become a child again. That smile won't fade anytime soon! The museum is easily accessible from Ōmiya Station via the "New Shuttle" – the journey itself sets the mood for the adventure. (Japanliebe) For families, train enthusiasts, and nostalgia lovers: definitely plan a visit!

Fantastic 5.0
Our Guide Mr Lee is smiley and friendly. His guide us at little Edo Street and recommend many nice streets foods and snack to buy home. Since it was raining, he suggested we should go for Prince shopping mall instead as my husband unable to do lots of walking. We are fortunate to have him as our guide.

What to know before visiting Saitama

Top experiences at a glance

Saitama is best known for its museums, which make up the bulk of bookings through the year, followed by a smaller number of massages, outdoor and sports activities, and a handful of guided tours. Demand rises toward August, when bookings peak, and falls into November, so the visitor rhythm moves from steady museum visits to a pronounced summer uptick in activity.

What different travellers tend to choose

Families and those seeking low-key culture will find museums the natural fit here, with many child-friendly and educational options. Couples often mix museum outings with relaxing massages for a quieter, more personal experience. Solo travellers and small groups who want something more active can look to outdoor and sports activities or book one of the tours, which offer a wider range of price and style.

What travellers from Hong Kong should book ahead

Most bookings in Saitama are made within a few days of travel, so you can keep plans flexible; still, the earliest planners in Hong Kong commonly secure key activities around two weeks ahead. If you’re travelling in August, when demand is highest, it pays to lock in popular visits earlier rather than later.

How the categories compare on price and fit

Massages are the easiest, entry-level way into Saitama’s activities, typically sitting at the lower end of the price scale. Museums occupy a modest, mid-range position and suit broad interests from families to culture seekers. Tours show the widest spread of prices and experiences, so they can be budget-friendly or premium depending on the option, while outdoor and sports activities tend toward the priciest mid-point and suit more active travellers.
