Reviews
Reviews summaryit was well arranged. we had pickup service and a guide to guide us through the day. the boat ride is a bit chaotic so it was good we had a guide to bring us through. snorkelling is great. managed to see a stingray and few varieties of fishes at manukan island. sapi was a little bit too crowded.
Overall a great day trip! We visited Manukan and Sapi Island which were both beautiful, and there is a lovely restaurant on Manukan Island. Our tour guide Nelson was so friendly and informative and always so happy which made our experience even better. Itinerary timings were comfortable and worked out very smooth throughout the day. I would highly recommend this for anyone staying in Kota Kinabalu.
Awsome snorkeling trip! Our guide Nelson was the best! He had always fun and interesting story's about the local life an Cuisine! The beaches and coral reefs where phenomenal and we saw sea turtles and stingrays as well as sharks!
The tour lead is professional and friendly. Nice view, clean water, and good food served. We really enjoyed the trip
David was wonderful. He was professional and attentive throughout the trip. Islands were beautiful, water was crystal clear, and wildlife was abundant. Would thoroughly recommend for a day out in KK.
Only issue was the food. A bit average. But the views were nice and the beaches were also very clean. lots of fishes to see. they also provided snorkeling gear.
Nelson, our guide was wonderful and super friendly and informative. the islands were pretty, we went to manukan and Sapi islands. at manukan island we did see some baby reef sharks, but little else. there is not much healthy corals left. cold beer was available on the beach front. we were contained to one area. on Sapi, a much smaller island, it was very busy, you had to swim in a life jacket, which did mean there was more life coral, and more fish to see. but again very contained areas of swimming and rubbish was present in the water. only warm canned beer from a shelf available here and both islands were teeming with people spending hours taking their perfect instagram photos. lunch was very tasty.
I'm glad I went, but there are many things to be careful of! If you are coming from the airport in the morning, the roads are very crowded. Please leave the hotel with plenty of time. The boat rocks quite a bit (not possible on a Japanese boat), so I recommend sitting in the back if possible. The sea is very beautiful, but the water is cold when the sun is not out. The instructor will keep an eye on your luggage the whole time. We stayed at Manukan Island in the morning and at Sapi Island for less than two hours in the afternoon. If you go far out to sea on Manukan Island, you can see the beautiful seabed. There is no toilet paper in the toilets! They are also quite dirty. There are no trash cans to throw away the toilet paper! It is a must to bring tissues that you can flush yourself! The food is typical Southeast Asian food. I think it suits Japanese tastes. You can have seconds! Also, there are a lot of mosquitoes, so be careful. I was bitten about four times, especially when eating. A foreigner told me that the mosquitoes on this island are a bit dangerous, so it might be better to detoxify them. Fortunately, nothing happened to me, but Malaysian mosquitoes can carry dengue fever or malaria, so be very careful. If the swelling hasn't gone down by the time you leave the island, it's very dangerous. (I asked the instructor when we left, and he said it was okay as long as the swelling had gone down, so I put on some Muhi stickers when I got back to the hotel.) I think it's a good idea to bring Muhi, insect repellent, and mosquito bite stickers. I was very tired, so if you're not very confident in your physical strength, I think it's fine to just go to one of the islands. Sapi Island is smaller, so it seems to be more densely populated, but if you just want to swim, Sapi Island is fine. Manukan Island is large. There is a mini aquarium and about two types of restaurants. If you want to visit the island, I recommend Manukan Island.
It was a choice I have no regrets about! There are many photo spots and the guide Ronaldo is really good at taking pictures!!! He comes here every once in a while to take pictures while I am wandering around freely, and it is the best picture of my life....... The music that plays during the firefly tour is also very emotional and the staff are all friendly!! Please definitely sign up and leave with good memories🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
The weather was great that day, and we enjoyed parasailing and flying fish water activities. The crew proactively helped take photos, and it was impressive how skilled they were at using various phone models. Snorkeling was also fun. Olivia was the one who took us on the tour that day, thank you for her company and explanations.😊
