Guide

  • The east side of the museum is a three-story comprehensive exhibition building, and the north side is a two-story main exhibition building. The three buildings are connected as a whole by a surrounding cloister. The entire museum has 10 exhibition halls. The permanent exhibitions in the museum include the Cultural Relics Exhibition and the Porcelain Pillow Exhibition, as well as occasional temporary exhibitions.
  • The Cultural Relics Exhibition is the main body of the museum, mainly featuring the unearthed cultural relics from the tomb of Zhao Mo, King of Nanyue. More than 10,000 burial objects of various kinds were unearthed from the tomb. The exhibition is divided into five units: Emperor Wen's Golden Seal, Treasures of the Main Chamber, Burial Attendants in the Tomb, Royal Treasury, and Feasting.
  • Among the burial objects, there are a large number of jade wares, such as the celadon jade horn cup, eleven sets of jade ornaments, and fifty-eight jade sword ornaments, which are all major discoveries in Han jade. The most precious of the jade wares are the "Silk-Threaded Jade Burial Suit", the "High-Stem Cup with Tray", and the "Dragon and Phoenix Pattern Ring Jade Pendant". The Dragon and Phoenix Pattern Ring Jade Pendant is a decorative jade item unearthed from the right eye position of the tomb owner. It is carved from bluish-white jade. The jade pendant is divided into inner and outer circles. The inner circle is carved with a dragon, and the outer circle is carved with a phoenix. Its shape and pattern have been selected as the logo of the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty.
  • The King's Tomb Exhibition Area of the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty (Nanyue History Research Center of the Western Han Dynasty) is located at 867 Jiefang North Road, formerly the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty.
  • The tomb of the Nanyue King was excavated in June 1983, and the museum was built on the original site of the tomb, mainly displaying the original site of the Nanyue King's tomb and its unearthed cultural relics.
  • Compared with other museums, its highlight is the treasure "Silk-Threaded Jade Burial Suit". The silk-threaded jade burial suit of the Nanyue King is the earliest complete jade burial suit discovered in China so far, and it is well worth seeing.
