must visit if in the area! lovely and serene museum with a great cafe. beautiful views of the beach!
Buying tickets at klook is cheaper than buying tickets on site. The museum has beautiful light and shadow, and I also visited the teahouse inside the museum to drink tea. The environment is beautiful.
Buy and use immediately, it is very convenient to enter by swiping the QR CODE. It is recommended to take the bus to Atami Station, bus stop No. 8, and just swipe the transportation card when getting on and off the bus. The art museum has a large space. This time I encountered Utagawa Hiroshige's Ukiyo-e exhibition. The exhibits were rich and the exhibition was well-thought-out. It is worth recommending.
The MOA Museum of Art, which stands for "Mokichi Okada Association," is located in Atami City, and the view of the sea from the hilltop is wonderful. I went there because I had always wanted to see Ogata Korin's national treasure, the "Red and White Plum Blossoms Screen." It is magnificent.
It is recommended that you go up from the third parking lot. We followed the Google map and walked up the mountain road to enter at the first parking lot. It was quite far and we had to skip the famous entrance. You have to find a way to see the entrance at the end. Because it was a rainy day, there were a lot of people in the museum.
It's worth a visit, the exhibition space is large and comfortable. The location is high and you can overlook the entire Atami. Remember to take the No. 8 bus in front of the station or take a ride. You can finish the tour in about half a day.
It takes less than 10 minutes to get to the bottom of the museum by direct bus from Atami Station. From there, you can take the escalator three times to finally get outside. If the weather is good, you can get a panoramic view of Atami from there. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good, so I don't have any photos.
I visited to see Korin Ogata's Red and White Plum Blossoms Screen. It may not be available depending on the season, so I recommend checking before you go. The real thing was overwhelming. The location is good, and the museum is spacious. In addition to the cafe, there are soba restaurants and Japanese restaurants, so it seems like you can spend a relaxing day there.
