The Rinn Horikawa was awesome in every way. It's close enough to Kyoto station to walk if you're up to a 20 minute walk, and with luggage if you have it. Otherwise, it is a very quick taxi ride that takes about 6 minutes and cost us 900 yen. The staff in the evening when we checked in and in the morning when we checked out were both very friendly and explained everything well. The price was great. A little less expensive than the average in the area but had to be better than almost anything else. It is a very nice, clean hotel. It is small and only has about a dozen or so rooms. The rooms are fantastic. Clean, beautiful and have many very nice touches. Their rooms are more spacious than most rooms in Japan. The beds were comfortable and had soft sheets and comforters. The bathroom had dual sinks. The shower and deep tub were in their own shower stall with a door. The shower head was amazing. Great pressure and coverage. This hotel is top notch with everything!

Big room. A bus station is exactly in front of the hotel. A smoking room at the first floor (Kyoto forbids smoking on the street). Free water in second floor. Again, the biggest room I ever stayed in Japan, with a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
