GoodStayed with kids
The Novotel was not bad but you can see it’s getting a bit tired the bathrooms need an upgrade. The food service at the restaurant was very slow, we had to wait 45 minutes for our children’s meals to arrive and then when they did they were cold. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment for 6 people and were told when we arrived we would have to pay $50 a night for a trundle bed for one of our children. Overall it’s ok but there are tons of resorts so you can probably do better for the amount we paid.

GoodStayed with kids
Room not ready at check in. We were hassled by 3 seperate staff members within an hour of arriving about attending their 90 minute session for a 1.1M rupiah gift (timeshare scam) and they would not take no for an answer. The food was terrible (but expensive). Two of the three times we ate at the hotel the food was raw/undercooked enough to make us sick if we ate it, the other time was just gross.
The "kitchenette" had no oven or microwave and only 3 sets of cutlery (our room could sleep 6). There were no bowls or sharp knives. I had to cut a mango with a butter knife. The salad vegetables we put in the drawers of the fridge froze them solid, with frost on them!
The bedroom and bathroom doors were all so noisy to open that it was impossible to enter or leave without waking anyone else in the room. All the lights are low in the whole apartment (don't bother trying to do any makeup if you are going somewhere nice as you can't see well enough. Bring your own lotions and things as only 2-in-1 shampoo conditioner, body wash and a tiny "vanity kit" are supplied.
The pool was a good size but quite dirty with broken and loose tiles. It was the perfect temperature (cool but not freezing). We found that more than half of the time there were no towels left in the afternoons, so take your back to your room and reuse them if you can. They were very stained and gross though.
The kids club was young children with very basic activites. They mostly seemed to be watching tv so we did not use it

FantasticStayed with kids
We were impressed with the Novotel. We had a hotel room which was perfect. I booked a pool view with balcony. The room was clean, reasonable size and had a good balcony with a little squirrel visitor. The staff, well they were always attentive and every person kind, thoughtful, helpful and always smiling. The Balinese are just the most wonderful people. Food was okay but well priced, and we loved the happy hour cocktails. Perfect place to relax and take it easy. Might not be as upmarket as other places but still we thought it was great value. Thanks to all staff. The beach transport was every 15 minutes and easy to use. Loved being able to go to the white sandy beach with lounges, a place to eat too. Consider it was good value for money

Breakfast was the best, so much variety.
We were upgraded to one bedroom suite, these rooms are spacious and have everything you need.
Staff are very welcoming. Would highly recommend for families if wanting a quiet area to stay.
We were a family of 10 with three rooms.

Nusa Dua is very chilled area, some people say boring, we loved how safe and peaceful it was. Novotel is an older style hotel, heavy Balinese furniture, dark colors. Everything is clean, beautiful gardens but it is an old hotel.
I loved the huge pool, surrounded by the apartments/hotel rooms. It is a big hotel however you can let your kids wonder as you know they are safe.
The food is nice, massage is perfect. The flora and fauna are just beautiful.
The people are always smiling; nothing is too much.
No USB charger points and just their local power outlets, but you can get adapters for free from the reception.
The money exchange within the hotel was the best we saw.
At the back gate (yes, there is two entrances) there are some minimarts and cheap massage places. No restaurants though.
The beach club for us was a bit boring, nothing is really there, but an easy 5 minutes' walk or shuttle bus
