I was very fortunate on my trip to Japan to have Mandy as our tour guide. She was enthusiastic, lively, attentive, and professional. Despite the packed itinerary, Mandy's careful planning made everything enjoyable and pleasant. I'm very grateful to Mandy for taking care of my family and me. I will definitely seek her services again on my next trip to Japan.

Sernia was an amazing tour guide! Weather wasn’t great so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji but we enjoyed the rest of the activities we did. Serina made sure to give us ample time at each attraction given that’s it’s pretty packed but never did I ever feel rushed. There was no pressure or obligation to buy anything. She gave great recommendations at each area.

It was a great trip, and our tour guide, Matt, was very friendly and made sure we had a lot of fun. The bus we rode in was very comfortable and clean. All the attractions we visited were exactly as described, and I loved that we had the freedom to explore. I would say this is a great idea if you want to visit many places in one day. This trip was definitely worth the money, much more convenient than arranging it yourself, and it included a tour guide. I met many wonderful people, including the guide, and I am very satisfied with this experience.

My Hakone day tour was on June 15, and my God, Mandy was a phenomenal tour guide. She was highly knowledgeable, efficient, respectful, and gave crystal-clear instructions on why we needed to work as a team and stay punctual. Consequently, we managed to visit every single attraction exactly on schedule, and we even had extra time to explore Oshino Hakkai—a truly beautiful hidden gem of Fuji. Furthermore, our bus driver was highly skilled, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride throughout the day. Major commendations to Mandy for her efficient English and Mandarin explanations; she handled the bilingual delivery masterfully, respectfully alternating them for the Chinese-speaking participants. From Hakone-jinja, the Pirate Ship boat cruise, and the ropeway trip to Owakudani, to Lake Yamanaka (where we fed swans and carps!) and ending with serene Oshino Hakkai, it was a deeply memorable, beautiful day. Props to Mandy and our driver for stellar service 🤎 I would absolutely book again.

Today was my first time booking a Klook day tour! Our guide, Matt, was kind, dedicated, and enthusiastically shared his knowledge about the sights. I hope to see Mount Fuji again next time when the weather is better 🗻

Buying tickets through Klook saves you time waiting in line, which is really convenient. When the weather is good, you can look for Mount Fuji before arriving at Togendai.

Tips for Your Hakone Onsen Experience

Choose an onsen in Hakone

Hakone, Japan, has lots of public bathhouses, ryokans, and private hot spring resorts that house numerous onsen (hot spring baths). Before your trip, consider looking for hot springs in advance that suit your needs and wants.

Here are some notable hot spring areas in Hakone:

  • Hakone Yumoto: This hot spring located near the Hakone Yumoto Station is the largest hot spring town in Hakone. Hakone Yumoto has lots of hot spring facilities and inns, like the Yu no Sato Okada with its spacious bathing area and sauna, or Hakone Yuryo with its rustic onsen that offer both public and private baths.

  • Kowakudani: It's known for its geothermal activity and offers a range of onsen facilities. It also provides easy access to Hakone's attractions, including the Hakone Kowakien Yunessun hot spring theme park.

  • Lake Ashi: You can choose from the different hot spring facilities along Lake Ashi's shores. Visit Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori, a modern hotel with both indoor and outdoor onsen that offer breathtaking lake views.

  • Gora: In the mountainous Hakone area lies Gora, also known for its many hot spring resorts like the luxurious ryokan Gora Kadan. It's also a convenient place for visiting the Hakone Open-Air Museum and is accessible via the Hakone Tozan Railway.

Check the rules of the onsen you're visiting

It's always best to check your chosen onsen's rules before your trip. Some might not allow tattoos or swimwear, while others are more flexible. Knowing the rules in advance helps you relax and enjoy without any surprises!
