the tour was the highlight of our tip (not counting the shopping) haha! but this tour is highly recommended! wawa, our tour guide was very entertaining and informative and the travel, despite the distance from the city was comfortable and relaxing. loooove the free mango sticky rice and the noodles! i will definitely recommend this to my travel friends going to Bangkok and who knows, I might just do this again myself! we enjoyed the train market experience! guide: itinerary: food: value for money:

Our tour guide was witty and humorous, and kindly attended to the requests of every group member. Tour guide WAN was excellent, with rich professional knowledge and friendly service, and even helped us take photos. Thank you, WAN, we had a perfect day!

The Chinese tour guide was very enthusiastic, and since I had other activities planned for that day, I informed the guide beforehand. The guide was very helpful in keeping track of time for me. The driver was lively, and overall, the trip was quite good; we slept on the bus and explored at each stop. Taking a boat through Damnoen Saduak was a cool experience, but some vendors there are quite exploitative, so tourists should be sure to bargain. The coconut ice cream was delicious!

I think this price is excellent for a tour with a Japanese-speaking guide. This time, we were lucky enough to have a private tour with Japanese support just for my husband and me. Our guide, Kussuma, was fluent in Japanese, very knowledgeable, and above all, a wonderful and considerate person. Since my husband and I rarely take photos together, she skillfully took many pictures of us at various spots, and we even had breakfast together, which was a lot of fun. I highly recommend participating in this tour, as Maeklong and the Floating Market offer unique Thai experiences. After the tour, she also gave us advice for our subsequent sightseeing, making it a truly enjoyable day. Thanks to Kussuma, I've grown to love Thailand even more, and I hope to see her again next time! It was also reassuring that our hotel was near the meeting point, so we could use the restroom before the tour. This tour is truly highly recommended.

The tour content and the guide both made for a very satisfying experience. I received an email the day before with the pickup time for my designated hotel, which was around 8:20 AM in my case, so I waited in the hotel lobby a little beforehand. Not having to worry about getting to a meeting point on time was much easier than I expected. After pickup, we transferred to another vehicle and headed straight to the Maeklong Railway Market. Upon arriving at the Maeklong Railway Market, we took commemorative photos inside the station, then walked along the railway tracks lined with shops on both sides. This railway walk was one-way on this tour. We wouldn't be returning to where we got off the car, meaning we couldn't buy things on the way back, so it was recommended to buy anything you wanted right then and there. I bought a few souvenirs here, but price negotiation was essential. The endpoint of the railway walk was a cafe, and seats right by the tracks, very close to the train, were reserved for our tour, allowing us to have the "close-call experience" without being bothered by other tourists. This was a huge plus. After leaving the Maeklong Railway Market, it was about a 15-minute drive to the Floating Market. Immediately upon arrival, we boarded a boat for about a 30-minute canal cruise. After getting off the boat, we had lunch at a nearby restaurant. The cost of lunch was at our own expense. The restaurant didn't have air conditioning, but there were many large fans, which was a relief. Finally, our guide, Kitty, spoke Japanese throughout the tour, which was reassuring. Occasionally, her Japanese was a bit unusual, but that added to her charm and made it enjoyable.

Aside from the meeting point, and the long walk required after taking public transportation, everything else was great. Both markets had their own unique charm, though the cafe was a bit ordinary. Still, I recommend everyone give it a try.

It was absolutely wonderful! We had an early start, but we were able to visit Maeklong and the Floating Market in the morning, which I really wanted to see. In the afternoon, we revisited Ayutthaya, which I had enjoyed on a previous trip. But above all, our guide, Jenny, was fantastic! She guided us so thoroughly, and I learned so much about history that I never knew before. She also offered us fruits and snacks during breaks, which were delicious. Actually, my wife, who was with me, had read reviews and said Jenny sounded great, so she was thrilled when Jenny was our guide at the meeting point, she even laughed! I'd love to take another tour with Jenny. Thank you very much!

History of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

One of the most popular floating markets in Thailand, Damnoen Saduak was built under the reign of King Rama V to link the Mae Klong River with Chinese river ways to support trade initiatives. By 1973, the river was populated with farmers on their boats selling their goods, which you can observe and experience to this day.

What to expect at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

The most famous floating market in Thailand, Damnoen Saduak is made up of 3 smaller markets - Ton Khem, Hia Kui, and Khun Phitak - each offering a different experience.

Your boat driver will take you through a maze of narrow canals filled with traders in traditional attire selling fresh produce from wooden boats. If you don't mind paying a bit more money, you can even rent a sampan to explore the neighbouring areas where you can view the traditional Thai way of living.

  • What to Expect: Here, you'll see the classic floating market atmosphere, with boats filled with fruits, vegetables, local products, and snacks. The market is busy and bustling, with a variety of goods being sold directly from boats.

  • Best for: Shopping and getting a taste of traditional Thai snacks and fruits. The area is very lively, making it great for tourists looking for the full floating market experience.

Hia Kui

  • Atmosphere: Hia Kui runs parallel to the main canal and is quieter and less crowded than Ton Khem, offering a more peaceful experience.

  • What to Expect: The market here is more traditional, and you'll find boats selling local produce, seafood, and homemade products. There are fewer tourists, so it's a great spot for those looking for a more authentic and local experience.

  • Best for: A more serene atmosphere where you can interact more with locals and get a feel for how the market operates beyond the tourist crowds.

Khun Phitak

  • Atmosphere: Khun Phitak is the smallest and most peaceful of the three markets, offering a quieter and more relaxed vibe compared to the other two.

  • What to Expect: This area has fewer boats and is often visited by those seeking a more tranquil, less commercialized experience. Here, you'll find local goods, fruits, and sometimes traditional Thai crafts. It's not as busy, making it ideal for those looking to escape the crowds.

  • Best for: Those wanting a more peaceful and off-the-beaten-path experience, where you can explore at a slower pace and enjoy the serene canal views.
