Things to do in Takayama

Anyone who isn't sure which tour company to choose should take a look at my experience. My tour guide this time was Ryuu Ken (Little Liu), and he was absolutely wonderful! He is fluent in Japanese, English, and Chinese 👍 and is also extremely responsible! We had 1.5 hours at the Takayama Old Town and 2.5 hours at Shirakawa-go. I felt that 1.5 hours at Takayama Old Town was a bit short to fully enjoy it, but I still managed to eat everything I wanted to! The other members of the group were also of very high quality; the bus rides were super quiet, and everyone was extremely punctual. Based on my observations, there were foreigners, people from Hong Kong, and people from Taiwan! Our driver, Mr. Ishikawa, was also very skilled, and the bus was extremely clean with no strange odors or cigarette smoke. All in all, I highly recommend joining a guided day trip to Takayama.

Since these locations are over two hours from Nagoya by car, it is definitely worth joining a local tour. The guide was excellent—responsible, well-organized, and provided plenty of free time, which was more than enough for the visit. I loved the first stop the most, it is well worth the trip. The 'Silver Clock' meeting point is very easy to find, and the maps and suggestions provided by the guide were detailed and easy to follow. They also set up WhatsApp and WeChat groups to ensure seamless communication throughout the day.

Shirakawa-go and Takayama Tour is one of the best tours you can get in Nagoya. The tour consists of going to Takayama with some guided excursions. The orientation while inside the bus with the maps provided by the guide was enough for us to be well-guided with the best places to go in Takayama and Shirakawa-go. This tour provided observation deck access, which allowed us to take pictures and buy souvenirs. The tour in Takayama is one of the best tours we had since we were able to roam freely. In Shirakawa-go, we were also able to roam freely.

My My parents and I are enjoying this trip. We really liked the scenery and the lunch here. On the bus, I learned about the UNESCO Omicho-gassho-zukuri style village. I like listening to stories. Thank you, Team Leader Kana and the bus driver. Keep it up—make sure to keep offering day tours

Our tour guide, Maxwell is really knowledgeable about the areas on the itinerary, as well as Nagoya. We had a big group today, but he managed us, and the timing so well. We were able to see all the spots on the itinerary without feeling rushed. For a 10-hour tour, you're definitely getting all the bangs for your bucks.

We started and ended on time. Our tour guide, Ceasar, was helpful and knowledgeable about the tour. Special thanks to our bus driver, Yamafuji, who brought us back safely to Kanazawa.

The Shinhotaka Ropeway is divided into two sections. First, you take a small cable car to the second platform, and then transfer to a large ropeway to go up the mountain. The air and temperature at the summit are noticeably different, and there are exclusive goods and food for sale. The scenery is gorgeous, and staying for about an hour is just right. I truly recommend it! It should be even more beautiful to see the fall foliage or snow scenery in autumn and winter.

Cici was a great guide, she was fluent in 3 languages, she gave us freedom to follow her around or to explore by ourselves. Felt a bit rushed in gujo hachiman, but the rest felt we had much much spare time to explore. Going with a tour like these is way cheaper than going by yourself.
