We had an awesome experience learning the art of Kintsugi in Kyoto. I attended with my adult daughter and we both had a wonderful time. The booking says the class is one hour, which is not enough time to actually complete the class. You’d be better allocating 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the experience. We really only had an hour and were rushed getting it finished in 1 hour 20 minutes. That was the only downside to the class. Our instructor JoJo did a marvelous job of explaining some of the history and uses of Kintsugi. It really was fascinating to experience the philosophy of rebirth and reuse. Like so many of the temples use the Phoenix as a symbol for rebirth, this class taught the practical side of the concept. From reassembling the broken dish to applying the gold, JoJo made it fun and informative. Highly recommend it to anyone - all ages!! instructor: Fun and interesting. experience: Very happy we made time for this!!
my husband and I just did the Kintsugi and Chopsticks workshops and LOVED it!! Patrick guided us through chopsticks crafting and Will walked us through Kintsugi. Both guides were phenomenal, spoke great English, and were hilarious and fun! 10/10 I’d recommend doing again!
A great moment! This is a workshop that I particularly enjoyed! And I was fortunate to have a Japanese person present who spoke French quite well; which was perfect for me, as I only speak French! The team was great, passionate professionals! I recommend it! And you can then go to Hands Kyoto, where you can buy a kintsugi kit for 9460 yen. 😊
loved this experience! Kintsugi is such a beautiful art of taking something broken and turning it into a masterpiece. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
Momoka and Arata guided us through the ancient process of ceramic repair, following the principle of highlighting imperfections. It was a moment of disconnection, tranquility, and seeing how we can fix and create with our own hands.
we glad we took the class! what a wonderful experience. Thank you so much Leyla and Wil for teaching us about kintsugi and wabisabi culture. it was beautiful❤ My wife & I will sure remember this experience. arigatou gozaimasu.
We had an amazing Kintsugi workshop with Jem and Ash for our family of 3! We scheduled the 9am session and we were one of only a few in the studio. They were both so patient and informative, allowing us to take our time and cheer us on along the way. You get to choose a broken dish (bigger and fancier ones available for purchase) then take a seat at a fully set up station. Jem and Ash walked us through each step one at a time following our pace. We brought our 15 month old who decided to fuss a bit during the session. They tag teamed playing with our toddler to allow us the ability to finish our crafts. They both offered to take pictures of us working and at the end of the experience to capture the memory. This studio does allow you to do either the chopstick or Kintsugi as part of your voucher. They did have room for walk up slots too. The location is in the Gion district with a short walk to the Yasaka Pagoda which made for a nice morning overall. 10/10 experience!
Had an amazing time there, wonderful experience. My wife and I was guided by Gabri and Alice who were super helpful and patient to guide us through the process. They also gave a quick commentary of how wabi wabi and kintsugi are linked.
Making kintsugi was something we all wanted to do. This place was a fantastic place to experience it for the first time. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Our instructor, Bunon, was super friendly and really helpful. 10/10 would recommend ;)
Great experience and had a very fun time! My guides were very clear and easy to follow and taught me a lot about Kintsugi and its background while I was fixing a plate! Wonderful atmosphere too and would definitely recommend!
