Fantastic 5.0
Highly recommend this tour! Our guide, Nathalie, was incredibly professional, passionate, and knowledgeable. She brought the history and details of the Changing of the Guard ceremony to life with her engaging commentary, and made sure we got into the absolute best viewing spots. As a small group tour, everything was well-paced and seamless without feeling overcrowded. A must-do for anyone visiting London—huge thanks to Nathalie for such a fantastic experience! 👍🌟

It's okay. There was a queue but it moves fast. A nice way to spend the afternoon in an air-conditioned environment especially during hot summers in London.

Fantastic 5.0
I purchased a 4-day pass. You need to install the Go City app and link your pass to it. After that, you can simply scan the QR code directly at the entrance of each attraction to enter, which is very convenient. You can even make attraction reservations directly through the Go City app, making the whole experience hassle-free. Basically, visiting two to three attractions per day already makes the pass worth the price.

Fantastic 5.0
I had a lovely stay at Point A hotel during my business trip. Even though the room is small, it was acceptable for 1 pax. The place was clean and also conveniently located near my office.

What to know about Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of the British monarch, serves as both a royal residence and the administrative headquarters of the monarchy. Originally known as Buckingham House, it was constructed in 1703 and became the royal residence in 1837 with Queen Victoria's accession. King George III acquired it in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte. The palace features 775 rooms, including 19 State Rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 92 offices, and the largest private garden in London, spanning 42 acres. Its facade was redesigned by Sir Aston Webb in 1913. During World War II, despite being bombed, the royal family remained in the palace, which reinforced its symbolic significance. Buckingham Palace houses a vast collection of art, including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Canaletto, which reflect the royal family’s rich cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the grandeur of the State Rooms, where state banquets and official events take place. The palace is also the setting for the Changing of the Guard, a key tradition that attracts visitors from around the world. Each summer (July–October), Buckingham Palace opens to the public, offering a rare opportunity to tour its opulent rooms, including the Throne Room and Picture Gallery. The palace has witnessed key moments in British history, involving the British monarchy, kings, queens, and princes, and continues to serve as a working royal residence today under King Charles. With its rich history, stunning architecture, and connection to the royal family, Buckingham Palace is a must-visit for those eager to experience the heart of British tradition, culture, and royal life.

Dressed in their distinctive red tunics and bearskin hats, the guards are accompanied by a military band, creating a vibrant and regal spectacle that draws large crowds. This iconic event takes place in front of the palace and reflects centuries of tradition within the royal household. Established during the reign of King George III, the Changing of the Guard continues to be held today under King Charles. This grand display is not only a key moment in royal tradition but also an important part of Britain’s cultural heritage.

Culture and History

Buckingham Palace, originally known as Buckingham House, has stood as a significant symbol of the British monarchy for centuries. Built in 1703, it was acquired by King George III in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte, before becoming the official London residence of the sovereign under Queen Victoria in 1837. Over the years, the palace has been at the heart of key historical events, including World War II, when it was bombed multiple times but remained a steadfast symbol of resilience and continuity for the royal family.

The opulent State Rooms and Throne Room are used for official ceremonies, formal banquets, and diplomatic receptions, offering a glimpse into the grandeur and traditions that have defined the monarchy for generations. Visitors to the palace can experience its rich history, opulence, and connection to British heritage, making it a must-see destination for those interested in the royal family.

Just a short walk from the palace, you’ll find classic English dishes such as fish and chips, beef Wellington, and afternoon tea with scones, clotted cream, and jam.

During the summer months, the Garden Café within Buckingham Palace offers a serene setting to enjoy light refreshments, including pastries, sandwiches, and teas, while overlooking Green Park.
