1. Hokkaido University Museum

Heading back to Elm Forest and heading north on the main street, you'll come across the Hokkaido University Museum. 2. Statue of Dr. William S. Clark

Visit the statue of Dr. Clark in the northwest corner of the central lawn, immortalized with his inspiring words, "Boys, be ambitious!" This iconic spot is a favorite for snapping photos. Opposite this statue lies a stunning white western-style building established in 1909. It was the first structure in Hokkaido designed in American Victorian fashion.

3. Elm Forest

Discover a spectacle of dozens of Japanese elm trees, some more than a century old, that have graced the area even before the relocation of the Sapporo Agricultural College. The elm trees flourished here thanks to the plentiful underground water at the end of the Toyohira River's alluvial fan.

4. Poplar Avenue

Back in 2004, nearly half of the trees lining Hokkaido University's renowned Poplar Avenue were devastated by Typhoon No. 18. In a heartwarming post-storm effort, more than 70 trees were replanted with assistance pouring in from across the nation. Today, you can stroll along an 80-meter pathway decorated by these sustainable new additions.

5. Ginkgo Avenue

Just 50 meters north of Ono Pond, you can find a breathtaking row of 70 east-facing Ginkgo trees that extends towards Kita-junjo Gate. This enchanting avenue transforms into a golden spectacle during the autumn season, painting a mesmerizing picture of nature's beauty.
