Kuo Yuan Ye Museum of Cake and Pastry DIY Experience in Taipei

It was a great experience! The workshop environment was very clean. From kneading the dough to baking the finished product, everything was made by hand; it wasn't pre-made dough that was just processed later. The children felt very accomplished, and the freshly baked pineapple cakes were also very crispy, with a crust that had a cookie-like texture. Each person made ten pineapple cakes. After the activity, there was unsweetened tea and two delicious small snacks. There was also a segment for taking photos in ancient costumes and a historical explanation of ancient pastry making. The entire two-hour process was very fulfilling!

Interesting class to make your own pineapple cake. Recipe makes 10 where 9 will be packed into box and 1 can be enjoyed on the spot. However, baking details were not shared during my session, e.g. to bake how long at what temperature etc. Session includes visiting their museum to learn more on Chinese culture, NT$50 voucher which can be used in their store at Level 1 and a Tea set. At the end, they even have a lucky draw to win their cookies and also capsules to win toys for the kids.

The activity was very enjoyable, and the staff were very attentive to everyone. There were explanations available in Chinese, English, and Japanese, and they guided everyone step-by-step, making it manageable even for children. After the DIY session, there was a brief introduction to Taiwanese culture, followed by free time for cosplay. I highly recommend spending two hours to experience this.

Highly recommend this but you need to book in advance because it sells out weeks in advance. Did the DIY with my kids and they loved it, not just the pineapple cake but also the traditional costumes and the cultural explanations. Food was exceptional!

I initially tried to book directly on the cooking class website, but since a Taiwanese phone number was required, I made the reservation through this site instead. On the day of the class, the Japanese interpreter happened to be absent, so we proceeded with an English interpreter and by watching the chef's demonstrations. Seating was arranged by country of origin. Even preschoolers can enjoy participating, though it seemed parents assisted with a significant portion of the activities. We also enjoyed the complimentary tea and baked goods from the shop downstairs, which were delicious and satisfied our hunger. Afterward, I was delighted to use the approximately 500 yen voucher I received to purchase cookies from the shop downstairs. (The pineapple cake was the most delicious, even more so than the baked goods and cookies.) Later, I was happy to spot the same shop at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi.

Overall great activity for all ages. The staff was courteous and welcoming. The store is easy to find from the MRT, Bus or Taxi. The pineapple cake making process was easy to follow and the end product tasted great! The museum is very cute albeit small, but it was interesting enough and helped pass the time while we waited for the cakes to cook.

There are professional people who will teach you how to make professional pineapple cakes. If you have any questions along the way, someone will help! During the process, we also visited their Guo Yuanyi Pastry Museum. The museum introduces Taiwan’s customs and customs, and the interactive experience is quite good~~ It also provides traditional costumes to wear. After making the pineapple cake, we will provide refreshments and give everyone a homemade top-quality egg yolk cake.

It was a well- spent and enjoyable afternoon. Spend time bonding with my family making cake pastry. This place is really good. They provided us with the cake pastry utensils and we make our own pineapple pantry! The chef and personnel who explain the process were very good. Highly Recommended to go to this place if you are in Taiwan. We had an enjoyable and fun time making the cake pastry.

It's definitely much tastier than buying it! The recipe was simpler than I expected, so I'm going to try making it when I go back to Korea. Making pineapple cakes and enjoying the cultural experience was a lot of fun. I highly recommend this as a unique experience for your Taiwan trip. It's a great activity to combine with a visit to the National Palace Museum.
