If you're going to Cairns, a trip to Kuranda is a must. Among the attractions there, Rainforestation is highly recommended. It's a compact and easy-to-navigate facility where you can enjoy many experiences such as the Army Duck tour, Aboriginal show and cultural experience, and kangaroo feeding. There are paid shuttle buses to Rainforestation from Skyrail and Kuranda Railway that don't require advance booking, so you can use those to get to Rainforestation.
I was worried because I didn't know where the shuttle bus stop was to go to the Rainforestation, but I found out on Google that it was the Butterfly Sanctuary. The receptionist explained how to get around the park, and how long each step would take, so I was able to plan my trip around the park.
I had a wonderful time experiencing Aboriginal culture, traditional instruments, dance, and the plants and animals that have been protected in Kuranda all at once. The staff were friendly and I was very satisfied. Highly recommended!!
This is a nice park for young children but is not worth the extra effort to remove yourself from Kuranda as part of a day tour. The army ducks are cool but in reality they are not driving for any distance through rainforest and rivers but instead only go down a hill into a man made pond then continue on a loop back to the start. without commentary and stops the trip would likely be 10minutes max. so good for kids but beware if you are expecting anything else. the wildlife park has crocs (big ones), wallabies wondering around Koalas etc and very easy to see everything. there is also a good cultural show and the chance to throw a boomerang and spears. The boomerang is fun. So all in all enjoyable but it is outside of Kuranda itself.
amazing tour. really enjoyed. went Curanda by gondola, back to Ciars by train. just the time was not enogh to see everything
You can play in 4 hours, the arrangement is very smooth, interesting and fun. You can catch kangaroos up close. The animals are cute and interesting.
it need to take a shuttle at the last station of Skyrail which is 13 AUD for return which is not to convenient.(yet to hv Uber or DIDI in this area) But the Army duck is quite worth for us to spend a visit to there. We manage to squeeze the thing in 2.5hrs (11:30-1400) for everything in order to catch the Skyrail down the hill
Just show up and exchange your order for a ticket, and the activities in the park are fun and worth participating in!
