This autumn, the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts proudly presents the special exhibition "Von Wolfe's Garden Fortress," which is also the first large-scale retrospective exhibition in Asia for British artist Von Wolfe. The exhibition runs from November 15, 2025, to April 19, 2026, featuring over 60 works spanning nearly 20 years of his creative journey – where oil painting meets algorithms, and classical and digital art intertwine.

Born into an artistic family, Von Wolfe inherited a profound artistic and philosophical background. The exhibition title "Garden Fortress" echoes the greenery of the museum, symbolizing a contradictory yet charming contemporary Eden – both a creative paradise and a battlefield of ideas, further hinting at Taiwan's crucial position in technology and geopolitics.

Starting with early cross-cultural collage works, Von Wolfe reconstructs Picasso's Cubism and Japanese Ukiyo-e, showcasing a dialogue between Eastern and Western aesthetics; followed by contemporary interpretations of Da Vinci's and Rembrandt's magical use of light and shadow. These works are based on traditional oil painting techniques, reweaving classic art historical images through visual deconstruction and reorganization.

The biggest highlight of this exhibition is Von Wolfe's pioneering creative experiments in collaboration with artificial intelligence in recent years. He starts with AI-generated images and then meticulously re-paints them with oil painting techniques. The algorithmic structure and human brushstrokes create a chemical reaction, intertwining rational and emotional contemporary art language on the canvas, witnessing a new chapter in art creation in the age of technology.

Staff will scan your QR code for entry. (Two people must enter simultaneously. On the day of your visit, you can re-enter the special exhibition multiple times and visit all exhibitions at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts with your special exhibition hand stamp.)

Visitor Information

• Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older to enter.
• Please do not bring animals or plants into the museum, with the exception of guide dogs.
• Please set your mobile phone to vibrate or silent mode during your visit; if you need to answer calls or listen to online guided tours, please lower the volume or use headphones.
• Please do not bring dangerous items, sharp instruments, food, beverages, balloons, helmets, selfie sticks, camera tripods, etc., into the museum; water bottles, short umbrellas, and small toys should be stored in your personal bag before entering (if your personal bag cannot accommodate them, they should be checked), and long umbrellas (except for assistive devices) should be placed in the umbrella stand.
• To protect the exhibits, please do not wear roller skates or use skateboards, bicycles, or push-type children's tricycles inside the museum.
• Please maintain a safe distance from the artworks during your visit; if using a wheelchair, please be mindful of the distance between the wheelchair and the exhibits.
• To avoid irreversible damage to the artworks, only pencils are allowed for note-taking in the exhibition hall.
• All exhibits in the museum, except those specifically marked as designed for "interaction," are prohibited from being touched.
• Smoking is prohibited throughout the museum, and eating and drinking, including chewing gum, betel nuts, and water, are also prohibited in the exhibition areas. If you need to drink water, please go to the area next to the water dispenser.
• To maintain the quality of the visit and intellectual property rights, non-commercial photography is permitted, except for works marked as not allowed to be photographed, but flash, camera tripods, or other professional photographic and video auxiliary equipment using artificial light sources are not allowed, and video recording is not permitted.
• Travel bags, suitcases, and backpacks (personal items larger than A3 size) should be checked; the service desk provides large luggage storage, and the basement offers free coin-operated lockers. Checked items must be retrieved on the same day. The museum is not responsible for safekeeping and reserves the right to dispose of them.
• Selling, distributing advertisements, promotional materials, or other commercial activities are prohibited in the exhibition area.
