Goryokaku Tower

Goryokaku Tower is conveniently accessible by public transport. You can take a tram or bus from Hakodate Station to Goryokaku Koen-mae Station, followed by a short walk to the tower. This makes it easy to reach the site without any hassle.

Admission to Goryokaku Tower is priced at 1,000 yen for adults, 750 yen for junior high and high school students, and 500 yen for elementary school students. There are also discounts available for groups and people with disabilities.

From Hakodate Station, you can take a tram to 'Goryokaku Koen-mae,' which takes about 15 minutes and costs 230 yen one way. From there, it's a ten-minute walk to the fortress, making it a convenient route.

The Former Magistrate Office is open from 9:00 to 18:00 (until 17:00 from November through March). It is closed from December 31 to January 3 and on a few irregular days, so plan your visit accordingly.

Two of the best times to visit Goryokaku Tower are during the Cherry Blossom Festival in spring and the Goryokaku Dream Illumination in winter. Each event offers a unique and beautiful perspective of the fort and its surroundings.
