Tony our guide was incredibly funny. it was easy to check in at the visitor centre. Staff were friendly. From Te Anau, it was a 30 mins bus ride before we took a ferry for 45 mins. thereafter transfer to another 30 mins bus ride before a 3 hour cruise through doubtful sound. the return back to Te Anau is the same. guided tour for all the transfer. beautiful waterfalls and scenery throughout the trip. ferry and cruise was stable for my wife and I so we didn’t feel any seasickness.

Jonas our guide is an extremely knowledgeable guy with a very pleasant personality. He provided us with a lot of information and insight to the places we visited and even more information on the Māori culture. Definitely worth taking the tour. Highly recommended.

My partner and I had such an amazing time on the TSS Earnslaw and the BBQ lunch at Walter Peak Farm – it was easily one of our favourite experiences in Queenstown.
The cruise over was super relaxing. The steamship itself is beautiful and full of character, and the views across Lake Wakatipu were just stunning. We spent time up on the deck taking it all in and even got to check out the engine room, which was pretty cool to see in action.
Once we got to the farm, we were treated to the most delicious buffet BBQ. The food was fresh and so well done – heaps of meats straight off the grill, tasty sides, salads, and desserts that we definitely went back for more of. The setting was beautiful too, right by the lake with mountain views all around.
After lunch, there was a fun little farm show with sheep and dogs, which added a bit of charm to the whole experience. It felt peaceful, laid-back, and just a really lovely way to spend the day together. Highly recommend.

I absolutely loved the experience with our guide, Nicholas! Even if you're not familiar with the movies, you can still feel the atmosphere. The guide's explanations were lively and engaging, so you never felt awkward for not knowing the plot. They were always thoughtful in reminding us about road conditions, ensuring everyone's safety. During the trip, the guide also provided drinks and snacks to keep us energized. This was truly an unforgettable journey, well worth experiencing again or recommending to friends.

We just finished the tour, though it is raining a bit here and there but we had a great time with a very experienced local guide Bill. He is knowledgeable and humorous. He knows the best spot for all the photos. He even show us the huge eels that lives in Lake Wanaka and how to capture the best photo of Tree Wanaka. Love his positive attitude in life. Without the rain, we won't be able to capture the rainbow overlooking the valley. Thank you so much "Bill".

It says the meeting place is the station, but there is no specific information on what to do at the station. I went to the ticket center and showed the QR code I used when booking, but in the end they didn't read the code and just wrote down the reservation number and issued the ticket manually, then I went to my assigned seat. The seats are two seats facing each other, but since it was empty that day, I was able to have a four-seat seat all to myself. Facing the direction of travel, the view on the left and right sides of the aisle is different. Of course, there are two chances, on the way there and back, but I recommend going on a day when it's not crowded. The windows are small and you can't get your body out, so you have to take photos through dirty windows, which is difficult due to light reflections. There are breaks at HINDON station and Pukerangi station, where you get off the train and take a rest, so you can take your time taking photos there. I recommend enjoying the magnificent scenery with your bare eyes instead of a camera on the train. I'm not very good at English, so I could only hear 20-30% of the male guide's announcements on the train, but I still felt that he was a little untimely. The sights are the same, so I think it would be nice if they prepared the pamphlets and guides they have for foreigners. There were a lot of Chinese people, and it seemed to have a deep historical connection, so I would like them to provide English and Chinese, but if possible, Japanese as well. The weather was good and the scenery was amazing. Coffee and snacks were also sold on the train, and it was worth leaving the city for five hours and taking a leisurely train ride. There is a small sports museum in the station, which costs $6 to enter and is well worth seeing.
