The Chao Phraya Hop-On Hop-Off boat is a very convenient way to visit many tourist spots in Bangkok, especially temples and malls located along the river. It makes traveling around the city easier while also giving you a nice view of the river. We purchased the all-day access ticket, which allowed us to hop on and off at different piers and explore multiple places. They also offer a single journey ticket if you only plan to go to one specific location. The boats leave every 15 minutes, so it’s very accessible and you don’t have to wait too long. They also provide a booklet with the schedules and stops, which makes it easy to plan where to go next. Overall, it’s a must-have experience when visiting Bangkok. We booked our tickets through Klook, which made everything hassle-free and very convenient.

What to know about Wat Arun

Known for its striking riverside beauty, Wat Arun—also called the Temple of Dawn Bangkok—is one of the city’s most iconic and photogenic temples. With its towering central prang (spire) covered in delicate porcelain pieces, the temple shines in the sunlight and glows beautifully at sunset. Many travelers say it looks like it was made for Instagram, and it’s easy to see why. But Wat Arun isn’t just about looks. It holds deep historical meaning too. King Taksin arrived here at dawn after the fall of Ayutthaya, giving the temple its poetic nickname. Whether you're exploring its quiet courtyards, admiring traditional Chinese statues, or arriving by boat along the Chao Phraya River, visiting this temple is a must when you're in Bangkok.

Shoulders covered, no shorts, especially important for women. Bring a scarf or light jacket just in case.

Don't accept the first price from Tuk Tuk drivers. Try to share with others or use a motorbike taxi for a better deal.

We recommend checking out the full temple complex, not just the central spire, since there are many beautiful corners to discover.
