It was a great experience. I forgot the guide's name, but she was a woman with medium-short hair. She was very professional; we departed exactly at 8 AM as scheduled. Along the way, she explained a lot about Japanese culture and history. The meeting and dismissal times and locations were clear and concise. The attractions were also excellent. The accommodation was very good, and the meals were decent too. Full marks!

Our day tour was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. The visit to the zoo was a wonderful way to start the day. Seeing the animals in a snowy setting felt unique and magical, especially watching them move and play in the winter environment. It was peaceful walking around the park while snow covered the trees and paths. After that, the snowmobile activity was incredibly exciting. Riding across the wide snowy fields was both thrilling and scenic. The feeling of speed combined with the beautiful white landscape made it unforgettable, and the guides were helpful and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable.

The guided trip was absolutely great especially for winter time. Our tour guide Triplestone Huang and driver Narita were awesome. Huang did marvelous job of sharing/explaining a lot of things throughout the trip- history of the places we were driving by or going to, trip tips for everyone and so on. He was very accommodating and thoughtful. I am glad I chose to go on this trip and would highly recommend it to everyone.

I highly recommend this tour! Our guide, Mr. Liu, provided detailed explanations, managed time perfectly, and was very friendly, making us feel right at home. The itinerary covered a variety of wonderful attractions, from Asahiyama Zoo to the Biei snowfields, Shirogane Blue Pond, and Ningle Terrace. The winter scenery of Hokkaido was truly impressive. Overall, it was excellent value for money, and I'd love to join again next time! Highly recommended!

The itinerary was decent, but I wish we could have spent more time at some of the attractions. I highly recommend this day tour for anyone traveling to Japan independently who isn't sure where to go. I had a wonderful time on the trip, and our guide, Lucy, was very enthusiastic and took great care of everyone!

Things to Do in Asahiyama Zoo

Penguin March

Every winter, watch the adorable penguin walk at Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido, where penguins waddle in a line through the snow-covered paths. It's a crowd favorite and happens twice daily during the snowy season. Bring your camera as this parade of flippers and feathers is pure joy. It starts at the penguin house and loops around the zoo, giving you a close-up view of their cute winter walk.

Mogumogu Time (Feeding Time)

Feeding time or "Mogumogu Time" is the best chance to see animals like seals, polar bears, hippos, and other animals in action! Zookeepers give fun facts as they feed the animals, so you learn while you watch them chow down. Check the schedule near the zoo opens or at the entrance for times. Kids love the splashes at the seal house, and you'll be amazed by the power of the polar bears during feeding.

Winter Night Viewing

During special winter nights, Asahiyama Zoo opens after dark with glowing lights and magical animal moments. You can see penguins, wolves, and even bears in their evening routines. The crisp Hokkaido air, sparkling snow, and peaceful night sky make it feel like you've stepped into a winter fairytale. Don't forget a warm coat and gloves as night visits can get chilly!

Seal House & "Marine Way"

Visit the seal house, where seals glide through a clear underwater tunnel called the marine way. This tube-shaped viewing path lets you watch them swim up, down, and even upside down! It's like being inside an aquarium, but the fun never stops. You'll feel like you're part of their world, seeing every twist and twirl from all angles.

Polar Bear House

Meet the powerful yet playful polar bears at the famous polar bear house. These Arctic giants dive into pools, nap on rocky ledges, and even come face-to-face with you through thick glass. Watching them swim and climb is pure entertainment!

Orangutan Tower

Look up! The orangutan tower is a tall outdoor climbing structure where these clever apes show off their acrobat skills. You'll see them swing high across ropes, often above your head. It's a wild mix of fun and awe as they use their long arms to cross the skywalk.
