Fantastic 5.0
Amazing experience with Dave! We get to visit 3 different wineries (one cheese pairing + one chocolate pairing) and lunch that includes gin tasting. We also got to see some wild kangaroos on the way too! Overall the vibe is awesome, Dave is very chatty and knowledgable so you can ask him almost everything! Highly recommended!

Fantastic 5.0
The original tour was supposed to go to Newcastle, but we were only informed at 6:15 AM on the day of the tour that it was canceled. We were then offered to go to Wollongong for a skydive experience instead. The overall experience was quite good, but the original return time was 11:30 AM. However, we had to wait for everyone to finish their jumps, including those who joined later, so we didn't depart for Sydney until around 2:00 PM, arriving back in Sydney at approximately 4:00 PM. You should set aside a full day for this. You can also walk along the beach nearby, and the weather was nice, so it felt like visiting an extra place.

Fantastic 5.0
We had an absolutely fantastic day on the Hunter Valley wine tour with Newy Tour Co. Despite being the only two guests booked, Nathan made the experience feel personal, relaxed and incredibly enjoyable. He was friendly, knowledgeable and a great host throughout the day. The tour offered a perfect mix of wine tastings, spirits, food and wine pairings, finishing with a wonderful cheese and wine experience. The venues were thoughtfully selected, and every staff member we met was welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. From start to finish, the day exceeded our expectations and was one of the highlights of our visit. We highly recommend Newy Tour Co and will definitely book again the next time we’re in Newcastle. Thanks, Nathan, for an exceptional day!

What to know before visiting Newcastle

What to expect in Newcastle

Newcastle is a compact city where Tours lead bookings, followed by Indoor games and Outdoor & sports activities, so expect a mix of guided experiences, leisure play and active outdoor options across the year. Klook booking data shows activity demand is concentrated around short planning windows, so weekend and seasonal rhythms shape availability. For travellers choosing what to do, the key trade-off is whether you prioritise a lively atmosphere or lower prices and more flexibility — pick atmosphere or pick value. All facts here are based on Klook booking data.

When to visit and price rhythm

Demand on Klook clusters into busier periods and quiet pockets; with short advance-booking behaviour, peak weekends can feel crowded. Prices by month are steadier than booking spikes, so there are months when demand and price move together and others when they diverge: when demand is higher you often see higher median prices. For lower prices and smaller crowds, target the quieter months; for the peak-season atmosphere, choose the busier months.

Month Demand Level Typical Price
January Busier than usual AUD 139
February About average AUD 139
March About average AUD 139
April Quieter than usual AUD 102
May Quieter than usual AUD 102
June Very quiet AUD 102
July Quieter than usual AUD 102
August About average AUD 139
September Busier than usual AUD 149
October Busier than usual AUD 188
November Busier than usual AUD 254
December Peak demand AUD 412

Demand is bookings in that month compared with a typical month, from historical Klook booking data, grouped into the demand levels above; typical price is the median paid on Klook in that month; prices are shown with their currency code. Klook booking data.

Where to stay in Newcastle

Klook booking data shows Wallsend is the most affordable district with a typical nightly rate of AUD 102, while Newcastle East is the priciest with a typical nightly rate of AUD 412; the gap between them is roughly 75%. Cheaper districts like Wallsend tend to suit travellers who prioritise saving on accommodation and don’t mind a quieter neighbourhood, while pricier districts such as Newcastle East suit those after central, upmarket stays and are happy to pay more for that experience. These figures are based on Klook booking data.

Tips for travellers from Australia

Most travellers book very close to arrival: on Klook the typical lead time is about 1 day ahead, while the earliest planners book around 4 days out. That means flexibility is realistic for many experiences — you can often book a day or two before travelling — but during busier periods or long weekends it pays to book earlier. Use Klook to lock in the tours and activities you want as dates fill; these suggestions are informed by Klook booking data and aim to help you balance flexibility with availability.
