Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of the British monarch, serves as both a royal residence and the administrative headquarters of the monarchy. Originally known as Buckingham House, it was constructed in 1703 and became the royal residence in 1837 with Queen Victoria's accession. King George III acquired it in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte. The palace features 775 rooms, including 19 State Rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 92 offices, and the largest private garden in London, spanning 42 acres. Its facade was redesigned by Sir Aston Webb in 1913. During World War II, despite being bombed, the royal family remained in the palace, which reinforced its symbolic significance. Buckingham Palace houses a vast collection of art, including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Canaletto, which reflect the royal family’s rich cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the grandeur of the State Rooms, where state banquets and official events take place. The palace is also the setting for the Changing of the Guard, a key tradition that attracts visitors from around the world. Each summer (July–October), Buckingham Palace opens to the public, offering a rare opportunity to tour its opulent rooms, including the Throne Room and Picture Gallery. The palace has witnessed key moments in British history, involving the British monarchy, kings, queens, and princes, and continues to serve as a working royal residence today under King Charles. With its rich history, stunning architecture, and connection to the royal family, Buckingham Palace is a must-visit for those eager to experience the heart of British tradition, culture, and royal life.

Fantastic 5.0
It's too old. Moreover, we're a family of five, so we booked three rooms, but we later found out that one room had a coffee machine and a radiator, one room had nothing, and one room only had a coffee machine. We found out on the last day, so we didn't bother asking. The towels smelled and were old and rough. The advantages are the view, the location, and the strong water pressure. The staff were relatively decent. It was nice that there was a £5 deposit for borrowing adapters, so we could borrow as many as we wanted without feeling awkward.

Guest rooms must have private bathrooms, 24-hour hot water, and signage in both Chinese and English. Three-star and above hotels must provide 18-hour luggage service and facilities for guests with disabilities.‌‌1 ‌Service Quality‌: Includes front desk response efficiency, room cleanliness, and personalized services (such as wake-up calls and room service). The operational quality score must reach 70% or higher.‌‌1‌

Fantastic 5.0
Wonderful hotel but do note there are two Hilton Garden Inn hotels and that this one is not next to the terminal and would require you to catch the Hotel Hoppa to get to T2. There was a lovely breakfast, the bed was comfortable and firm, and there was a bathtub which delighted us.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is a bit of a walk from King's Cross station, across the street and a little further. The sidewalk is uneven, so you have to carefully drag your luggage. On the way, there's a Five Guys, KFC, Subway, and a grocery shop. We got a windowless room on floor -1, which was quite large. The staff cleans every 3 nights. The room doesn't look new, but it's not too old either. You have to go to reception to get hot water and drinking water. Overall, it's worth the price and I would stay there again if I go to London.

Great 4.0
The apartment is a bit dated, and there are many short flights of steps on the way to our room. The room flooring is a little uneven. However, the room was clean and the service was good. We took the Heathrow Express to Paddington station and, thinking it was just one stop to Bayswater station, we took the tube. But it was a nightmare because there’s no elevator at Bayswater station, so we had to carry our luggage up and down many flights of stairs.

Fantastic 5.0
Although we were about twenty minutes late, the staff still greeted us very warmly! There were sandwiches, cakes, and muffins! Each sandwich on the bottom tier used different ingredients and had a very unique flavor! The cakes were delicious! The muffins came with three kinds of jam: vanilla on the left, strawberry in the middle, and lemon on the right. In addition, the afternoon tea also included drinks or tea, which kept our palates refreshed while we ate! Highly recommend this afternoon tea!
