    Hobbiton Movie Set

    Hobbiton Movie Set

Hobbiton- the home of notable Hobbits such as Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, later on Samwise Gamgee and his wife Rosie Cotton!
Hobbiton is an attraction you surely can’t miss when you visit New Zealand’s North Island, especially when you're in Rotorua - we’re sure this is #1 on the list of an avid Lord of The Rings Fan or The Hobbit fans!

    Where is Hobbiton?

The Hobbiton Movie Set is located at the heart of Waikato, in a small agricultural town called Matamata.
The set is in a 1250 acre or a 500-hectare property that has been traditionally a New Zealand sheep and beef farm owned by the Alexander’s since 1978. Up until this day though, the property is still home to cattle and you’ll see a number of them around the Movie Set when you visit!

What can you see and how does it look like?

Even casual movie viewers will enjoy visiting the set and appreciating all the intricate details in the set - you’ll see 44 unique hobbit holes, the Mill, the double-arched bridge, the world-famous Green Dragon Inn where you can enjoy traditionally handcrafted ales or cider as you explore and walk through Middle Earth. How exciting is that?!
