    What is a Japan Rail Pass?

    The Japan Rail (JR) Pass is a ticket that allows pass holders unlimited rides on a majority of Japanese railways, including Shinkansen lines, and local JR buses within a specified duration of time. This multi-usage pass covers long distance travel from Tokyo to Osaka to Kyoto, but you can travel comfortably in an Ordinary Car or in a Green Car, which is the equivalent of business class. 
    Booking a JR Pass is almost just as easy as using one. When you book your JR Pass on Klook and your exchange order will be delivered to your address, which you can swap for the JR Pass at an exchange office at the train station. Then, just show your pass before hopping on the train!

    For 7, 14, or 21 days, the JR Pass gives pass holders access to most of Japan’s railways. If you’re looking for an easy-speedy way of travelling between cities, the JR Pass covers the JR Shinkansen, Limited Express, Express, and the Bus Rapid Transit. You can also travel on the Tokyo Monorail, local JR buses, as well as the JR-West Miyajima Ferry. 
    Note: JR Passes can only be purchased by travelers on a tourist visa.

    The best way to figure out whether a JR Pass is worth it for your trip, , it’s best to plan your itinerary ahead of time. If you plan on travelling to multiple destinations throughout Japan, the pass is worth it. But if you wanna be extra sure, there’s a JR Pass “worth it” calculator that calculates  how much money you can save with the pass.     One of the perks to the JR Pass is the discounts you're entitled to. The pass itself is half-price for kids aged 6-11, and free for kids 5 years old and under. In general, The Japan Rail Pass is worth it if you wanna save on fare for long distance trips, multiple trips from one city to another, as well as trips to and from the airport. They’re also great for spontaneous trips because you can use the pass several times within a fixed time period. Plus, you won’t only save on train rides, but on bus rides and ferry rides as well.
