If you can’t make it to the Whitsundays in September, don’t fret. You’ll still enjoy the islands, no matter the season.
December to March is the low season in the islands due to the rainy season. The good news is that the rains come and go pretty quickly, and you’ll get the best deals during this time of year. You can explore rainforests and go on hikes to see waterfalls, which come to life during the wet season..
April to May is when the rain starts to decrease, but you’ll still get low deals around the islands. It’s also an excellent time to hike the Whitsundays’ fantastic trails since it’s not as hot as summer.

June to August is the best time to visit the Whitsundays to go whale watching. Humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to escape the cold, give birth, and mate in the tropical waters of the Aussie coast.
When it comes to weather, September to November is the best time to visit Whitsundays. There are few rainy days, and the skies are clear. Plus, there are no school holidays in November, so you can avoid the bigger crowds.

Another reason why September is the best time to visit Whitsundays is that you avoid stinger season! Stinger season starts in late October and ends in May. Box jellyfish and Irukandji are attracted to the warm waters during this time of year. On the positive side, you can still enjoy the water even if your holiday happens to fall anytime between these months. We recommend you wear a stinger suit and protect yourself from stings and sunburns.
