Guide

The Mukden Palace is located in Shenhe District, Shenyang City, and is one of the two surviving complete imperial palace architectural complexes in China. It was the imperial palace of the Later Jin dynasty before entering the Shanhai Pass, and later served as the Shengjing Imperial Palace after the Qing dynasty moved its capital to Beijing. The Shenyang Palace Museum not only features exquisite ancient palace architecture, but is also renowned for its rich and precious collections, housing a large number of imperial artifacts left behind from the old imperial palace. According to its architectural layout and the chronological order of construction, the Mukden Palace is divided into three parts: the Eastern Route, which contains the Hall of Great Affairs and the Ten Kings Pavilions built during the reign of Nurhaci; the Central Route, which contains the Dazhong Que successively built during the reign of Emperor Taizong of Qing; and the Western Route, which includes the Wensu Pavilion and other structures added during the Qianlong period.
