Yangma Island

Yangma Island is located in the northern part of Muping District, Yantai, with a large area. The island has a pleasant climate, with no severe cold in winter and no extreme heat in summer, making it suitable for leisure and vacation. Yangma Island has a long history. Legend has it that when Emperor Qin Shi Huang made his eastern tour, he raised imperial horses here and named it "Royal Horse Rearing Island," hence the name Yangma Island. The island has rolling hills and lush trees, with gentle slopes in the south and steep cliffs in the north. The sea in front of the island is wide and calm, while behind the island, there are rugged reefs and crashing waves. The eastern end has clear water and golden sands, making it an excellent bathing beach, while the western end has deep water and small waves, making it a natural harbor. The waters around the island are rich in sea cucumbers, scallops, abalones, prawns, oysters, and "swan eggs" (a type of clam), among other seafood. The island has various hotels and sanatoriums, as well as entertainment attractions such as Tianma Square, a racecourse, a seaside bathing beach, Ocean World, and Yupiyuan.
