Guide
Pingyao Ancient City is one of the best-preserved ancient cities in China and a World Cultural Heritage site. Pingyao Ancient City was once the financial center of China during the late Qing Dynasty. Today, the streets, shops, and residential houses within the ancient city still maintain their traditional layout and appearance. Walking into this once prosperous ancient city, one can feel the atmosphere of Jin merchant culture everywhere. The beef from Pingyao Ancient City is very famous; Empress Dowager Cixi once passed through Pingyao in the late Qing Dynasty and greatly enjoyed Pingyao beef after tasting it.
