Guide

Zhenguo Temple, located in Pingyao County, is one of the oldest existing wooden structures in China. Zhenguo Temple is not large in area, and its most important building is the Main Hall on the central axis, also known as the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas. The overall "beam frame" structure of the hall is meticulously crafted and exquisitely designed, perfectly preserving the wooden architectural framework from the Five Dynasties period over a thousand years ago. Inside the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the statues from a millennium ago still retain their vibrant colors, representing masterpieces of ancient sculptural art. In the Hall of Three Buddhas behind the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the walls are covered with delicate and vivid murals depicting Buddhist stories from the Ming Dynasty.
