From Hoi An: Cooking Class, Coconut Basket Boat & Lantern Release

The instructor was very friendly and bubbly, providing help whenever we needed, never forcing us to do anything we didn’t want to. The food we cooked was extremely delicious, simple and fun to make. The five courses (not including dessert) were simple but paired very well together and I liked that I was able to tweak each dish to my liking (saltiness, spiciness, etc.). The only thing to be careful about is the flambe of the bahn xiao to make it extra crispy as the fire is quite big and the hot oil my spurt but even if you get scared, the instructor takes over for you very quickly and you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. The coconut boats were very fun, with the opportunity to fish for crabs and spin to oppa gangnam style while wearing vietnamese hats. We went to take the latern boat at sunset and the views were breathtaking as you had the sunset on one end and could watch the river start to light up as the sky darkens. Overall, great experience and extremely worth the price!

highly recommended! I learned alot in cooking class and ate alot, but the qr code for recipes was not working and have to move to coconut boat, which I found it a bit boring. Overall, its worth the money!

The cooking class was amazing and the highlight of this tour. The ingredients were incredibly fresh and the cooked dishes ending up tasting a lot better than expected, even better than some restaurants in Hoi An!

An experience worth paying for. The founder of the cooking class Whatapps us the day before to check for our hotel name and agreed to pick us up from our hotel even though our hotel was out of the range.The van came promptly to pick us up. They did change the schedule to doing the cooking class first as they said weather was too hot (Our timing was 130pm).They brought us to the wet market and an English-speaking local showed us and bought some of the ingredients we were be using for our cooking class. As they changed the cooking class timing, it meant that we need to eat as 4pm+ instead of having it as our dinner so we were too full (as we had our lunch before going). The cooking class was fun, even though it was very fast.Btw the class was held in a non-aircon place. Then we went for the coconut boat ride which included crab fishing.We then were driven to the Old Town to release the lantern from a boat.Pls find shop no. 114 to get the lanterns (we were not informed of this beforehand)

Our guide was very lovely. we had a great time at cooking class and the coconut ride was unique. The lantern boat ride was beautiful at night.

The food was amazing. and so much of it. I can't wait to take the recipes home to try. The coconut boat ride was alot of fun too.

The coconut boat ride and cooking experience were both good. Our female tour guide not only explained the food culture but also transformed into a chef, teaching us how to make Vietnamese dishes. The transportation arrangements were a bit chaotic; we were constantly split into groups for different attractions. The driver dropped us off outside the ancient town and told us to walk to the boat launch for the lantern release. There were too many people releasing lanterns, and we had to wear life jackets, which made the scene completely unappealing. 😂

We had a wonderful day with the market, cooking class, coconut boat ride, and lantern release. The fish dish we made in the cooking class was especially delicious. We were very satisfied with our participation.

This was a perfect experience for our whole family! ​We really enjoyed the local market tour before class. Seeing all the vibrant colors and goods at the market was awesome. The cooking class itself was fantastic and our guide Wan was super attentive to the kids and family. The food was so delicious and we definitely left with full bellies! ​The coconut basket boat ride later on met all our expectations. Scheduling it for the afternoon was a really smart move because it helped us dodge the noon heat. Highly recommended!

This was an exceptional tour and offered excellent value for money. The food was of an outstanding standard, the boat ride was a delightful addition to the experience, and the lantern display was truly unforgettable. The entire tour was well organised (great driver) and thoughtfully arranged, making for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
