Good way to explore the highlights along the Thames river. Received a QR code after booking and can easily be use at each pier.

Excellent! The boarding pier is conveniently located, and there's plenty of time for the cruise. You can even enjoy part of your meal on the platform to take beautiful photos and admire the scenery. The food quality is consistently good, offering great value for money.

The singer performed wonderfully! Their voice was incredibly beautiful! The staff were also very friendly! The chicken main course was delicious too! Highly recommended, it's definitely worth attending!

The itinerary is rich, and includes a boat tour, but the tour guide walks very fast. Many places are just a quick glance. On the plus side, the tour guide carries a small iPad and plays videos to go along with the attractions.

A great experience, with simple snacks and coffee available for purchase inside the cabin, allowing people to spend a comfortable and wonderful time on the boat. The guides on board are professional and humorous, adding a lot of value to the boat tour.

I had a great time thanks to the cheerful guide. Above all, I was happy that he guided us to the closest point where we could take pictures of the guards!

Good and well-prepared guide, interesting route. Meeting point easy to reach. In case of rain, I would opt for something else.

What to know about River Thames

The River Thames is one of the most famous landmarks in London. It stretches over 200 miles, starting from the Cotswolds and flowing right through the heart of the city before emptying into the North Sea. What makes it so unique? The Thames is tidal, meaning the water level rises and falls like the ocean. It also provides two-thirds of London’s drinking water and has inspired writers and artists for centuries. Taking one of the many River Thames tours is a great way to see London from a fresh perspective. You’ll glide past major landmarks, enjoy relaxing views, and often get live or recorded commentary about the sights around you. It’s a more peaceful, scenic way to travel compared to London’s crowded subways and buses. Whether you’re cruising at sunset or zipping through the water on a high-speed ride, the River Thames lets you experience the city in a whole new way.

Things to Do on the River Thames

Ride a Hop On Hop Off Boat to Greenwich

Use the river boat service to easily reach Greenwich, a charming part of London that's tricky to get to by regular transport. It's a smooth, scenic ride and gives you great views the whole way.

Try a Special River Cruise

Afternoon tea cruises serve scones, cakes, and sandwiches as you float past historic landmarks. Dinner cruises offer a four-course meal, music, and dancing once the food's done. These River Thames tours combine sightseeing with a full dining experience.

Visit the Tower Bridge

While cruising by, hop off to explore the Tower Bridge. You can walk across the glass floor, check out the engine rooms, and enjoy stunning views from the high walkways.

Walk the Southbank

Take a stroll along the Southbank from Southwark to Westminster. This walk is especially pretty in winter when the lights are twinkling and the Christmas markets are in full swing.

Go on a High-Speed Boat Ride

Looking for something exciting? Hop on a Rib (rigid inflatable boat) that zooms down the River Thames at 35 mph, making sharp turns and splashing through the water.

Follow the Entire River (Extreme Adventure)

If you're really adventurous, you can try to travel the whole River Thames from source to sea---over 200 miles by walking, swimming, and kayaking. It's tough, wet, and wild.

Spot Wildlife on the Thames

The River Thames is home to 119 species of fish, plus otters, river voles, and even eels. Some explorers use their river journey to test the water for chemicals and track wildlife.

Tips Before Visiting River Thames

Sit Upstairs for the View

The top deck gives you the best views, so grab a seat early. If it's full, try the lower deck near an open window or wait for the next boat.

Watch the Clock on Tea Cruises

Afternoon tea cruises only give you about an hour to eat. If you're a slow eater, keep that in mind!

Book Ahead or On the Spot

You can buy tickets online through sites like Viator or TripAdvisor, or walk up to a pier kiosk (like Embankment Pier) for same-day spots.

Extreme Trip Tips

If you're doing the full river adventure, remember it's tidal after Cricklade---so bring a kayak. Also, don't drink the water past the upper sections, even with a filter.

Watch for Wildlife

Swans with chicks can get aggressive. If you're paddling or walking through shallow areas, give them space and time to move.
