This was a very interesting activity. It was my first time trying stand-up paddleboarding, and it really tested my balance. The instructor was excellent, teaching very carefully and providing help whenever I encountered difficulties. The fireflies were also beautiful.

Wonderful sunset SUP experience at Fox & The Firefly Cottages in Bohol! The river sunset scenery is magical beyond words. Huge thanks to coaches Jasper and Promin — they are super patient, calm and professional. They gave detailed guidance for newbies, patiently corrected our moves, prioritized our safety all the way, and helped us enjoy the sunset comfortably on the paddleboard. 10/10 experience, strongly recommended!

The travel agent will contact you in advance via email to confirm the pickup location and time. We took the first OceanJet ferry to Tagbilaran at 6:00 AM, and the driver arrived at the ferry terminal on time to pick us up. The itinerary was excellent, and the Chocolate Hills were beautiful. We also participated in a 2-hour ATV driving and adventure tour at the Chocolate Hills. This part of the trip was fantastic; the ATV guide and photographer was very professional, and the photos and videos were excellent. Afterward, we saw the tarsiers, took a river cruise, had lunch on the cruise, and in the afternoon, we visited a church and a monument. Finally, we took the 5:00 PM ferry to leave Bohol. Overall, it was a very fulfilling trip, and well worth it.

Tourist guide and driver is an awesome companion, he is very knowledgeable about the province of Bohol. He gives information very clearly and in details. Learned so much from him regarding the place, the culture, the people, the traditions and the food. So friendly and helpful. The tour package is excellent. Though the rides are long going to the destinations we did not get bored because the guide is an excellent story teller with his tales of Bohol and its people and beautiful places.

if you love to make paddle, then this activity will definitely satisfy your paddling to the max. The Loboc River is calm and peaceful, very relaxing to paddle. Then there is the fire flies, so much to see and could even take videos of them. Very worth the money spent.

Our Bohol excursion was absolutely perfect from start to finish, thanks to the incredible investment and professionalism of our guide, Tyron. He knew exactly how to guide us to the best spots throughout the entire day, making sure we had the best possible experience. A special shout-out also to Ariel, our guide during the ATV/buggy activity, who was top-notch! It was a real pleasure for us to invite Tyron to join us for lunch and the Loboc River cruise. Having him at our table was a huge added value to our day. He shared so much with us, explaining the different culinary specialties of his country, translating the lyrics of the local songs, and telling us all about the traditional dances. On top of that, he is an amazing photographer and videographer who captured perfect memories for us. If you visit Bohol, ask for Tyron! Thank you so much for your warmth and professionalism!

This enchanting two-kilometer stretch of mahogany trees, planted over half a century ago, offers a serene escape with its lush canopy and dappled sunlight. Whether you're driving through or taking a leisurely stroll, the forest's tranquil ambiance invites you to pause and appreciate the beauty of this reforestation success story.

Bilar Man-Made Forest Drive-Through

Experience the awe-inspiring drive-through at the Bilar Man-Made Forest, where towering mahogany trees form a natural tunnel overhead. This picturesque route, established in the 1960s, provides a cool and refreshing journey, making it a must-see for travelers en route to the Chocolate Hills. The forest's uniformity and the play of light through the leaves create a captivating scene that is perfect for photography enthusiasts.

Bilar Man-Made Forest Photo Spot

Capture the essence of Bohol's unique landscapes at the Bilar Man-Made Forest, a favorite photo spot for visitors. The forest's dense mahogany trees create a stunning backdrop for memorable snapshots, contrasting beautifully with the surrounding natural vegetation. This man-made wonder not only offers a visual feast but also stands as a testament to successful environmental conservation efforts.

Culture and History

The Bilar Man-Made Forest was established to combat the effects of slash-and-burn farming, known locally as kaingin, which had devastated the region's natural forests. This reforestation effort reflects the community's commitment to environmental restoration, although it has sparked discussions about the ecological impact of using non-native species like mahogany. The forest stands as a symbol of successful reforestation efforts in the Philippines. Initiated in the 1960s, this project highlights the importance of environmental conservation and serves as an inspiration for similar initiatives across the country. It is not just a natural wonder but also a symbol of environmental conservation efforts in Bohol. It was part of a reforestation project initiated by the local government and environmentalists to combat deforestation and preserve the island's natural beauty. This initiative has transformed the area into a thriving ecosystem, showcasing the harmonious blend of human intervention and nature.

Ecological Insights

While visually captivating, the forest is a biodiversity-dead zone due to the dominance of non-native mahogany trees. These trees do not support local wildlife, resulting in a silent forest devoid of birds and insects. This highlights the importance of planting native species to foster a thriving ecosystem.

Local Cuisine

While visiting Bohol, indulge in the local cuisine that offers a delightful mix of flavors. Must-try dishes include 'kinilaw' (a local ceviche), 'adobo' (a savory meat stew), and 'puso' (rice wrapped in coconut leaves). For a sweet treat, try 'calamay,' a sticky rice cake made with coconut milk and sugar, which is a popular delicacy in the region.
