The best time to visit Sanyi Township is from October to April, when the weather is cooler and comfortable for rail biking, walking streets, and visiting outdoor heritage sites. Spring can be misty and atmospheric, while summer is greener but hotter and wetter.

Take a TRA train to Sanyi Station, then continue by taxi, local bus, or shuttle depending on your attraction. Self-driving from Taichung, Hsinchu, or Taipei is the most flexible option for Shengxing Station, Longteng Broken Bridge, and craft villages.

Use taxis, local buses, or a rental car between the station, museum, Shengxing Station, and rail bike sites. The main attractions are spread across hills, so walking alone is not practical for a full itinerary.

Stay around Shengxing Station for guesthouses and nostalgic railway scenery, or near Sanyi Station for easier transport. Travelers wanting a wider Miaoli base can stay in Miaoli City or Taichung and visit Sanyi as a day trip.
