Oslob Whaleshark Watching & Sumilon Island Day Tour

I think this was the best experience of my life (other than having my children of course) our driver Jearson was so nice we chatted a lot about England and the Philippines, on our 6 hour round trip with him. Our tour guide Amalia was also lovely and very helpful. swimming with the whale sharks I will NEVER forget, it was just amazing. The falls was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited as was the island of Sumilon. Very tranquil and the snorkelling on the island was just beautiful with gorgeous fish to be seen. The light breakfast and buffet lunch was incredible, and the early start (3am) was worth every moment. one tip (you aren’t allowed to wear suncream with the whale sharks because of the chemicals it contains, so take a cover up) my photos of the whale sharks were taken on an underwater camera and if you ask the boat men and pay them a tip they will video and take photos of you with them 😁

Oslob was amazing, we arrived at 6 30 with our guide Liegh (who was so nice and welcoming)to take our ticket for line up, then was brought to this place for breakfast. The mango sticky rice with hot cocoa was just what was needed for the day. After breakfast and changing we headed back at around 7 15 and it was already almost our turn, so the wait wasn't long at all as we had breakfast. We had 3 whale sharks surrounding us they were so cute!!!!! Afterwards we shopped around to wait for the 10am boat to sumilon. The beach was beautiful, and a breath of fresh air from the city or crowded sights. The infinity pool had a great view. The buffet lunch had Filipino specialties too! Overall it was very worth it as this was a once in a lifetime experience.

We had such a wonderful time with this tour. Our guide was wonderful! We arrived early AM to get our ticket, and our guide was able to trade for a lower number, we then enjoyed a light breakfast of sticky rice and mango. The whale watching was incredible and the island was perfect. Choose the later return time as there is so much to do. We paid $18 additional for a family of 4 to snorkle in the Marine sanctuary and it was SO WORTH IT! Cannot recommend enough bringing some extra cash for that. The lunch buffet was delish also. 10/10 recommend.

It was an unforgettable experience! Everything went very smoothly, we were picked up from our hotel and then went to check in at the whale shark activity. We then had breakfast in a café with a great view. As we had to wait for our registration number to pass, we then went to see the monkeys, which was cool, but I'd advise you to take mosquito repellent. Finally it was time to see the whale sharks, and I can tell you it was a magical experience! You can rent a Go Pro camera to film underwater. We then went to the Sumilon resort where we spent the afternoon. There are two departures: 1pm and 3pm, we chose 3pm to make the most of it. My only regret is not having been able to stay longer at Sumilon. Otherwise, nothing to say, I recommend the experience without hesitation.

Overall amazing experience. The day was perfect. Dee was a great tour guide. Our driver was timely and gave us ample opportunities to go to the toilet. We left at 4ishAM got there about 7:30ishAM. Whale shark swimming was grand. Our wait time was about 30 mins then we went to the Falls, riding the motorcycle was easy even for my 10 yr old who had to ride without me. Sulimon island was nice but by the time we got there, we ate and was wiped out from all the other activities so we didn’t get to enjoy all the activities that were available on the island like the kayaking, sandbar and infinity pool. The food was good.Make sure to drink plenty of water and wear a hat. We decided to leave at 1pm versus 3pm to get back before 7pm and because we were exhausted. Unfortunately the traffic back to mactan was TERRIBLE. Took us almost 6 hours to get back, maybe should’ve stayed till 3. The whale experience and island provided food and towels which were a plus.

This was a VERY long day but as long as you’ve got patience, it’s worth the trip. We got to swim with Whale Sharks which was amazing to see, note that the sharks are being fed therefore keeping them in the area and I wouldn’t call it wild swimming with Whale Sharks. Would recommend doing it with the island day to make your money / time worth the long drive. The island was beautiful with pools and sea swim / Snorkle area and an a la carte lunch menu. The drive was about 3 hours there, meaning the we saw the sunrise the journey down. Our driver Reynan was friendly and safe. Note that there is a lot of over taking and bumpy roads (but this is common in the Philippines). Here is how our day went: 04:00 Hotel pick up in Cebu 07:00 Arrive in Oslob, get stamped and a number for the Whale Sharks 07:15 Had mango sticky rice for breakfast at the nearby restaurant 08:15 Went back down to the Whale Shark waiting area (note this could take longer depending on the number given when you are stamped) 08:30 Swimming with Whale Sharks 09:00 Back to the car and along to the dock which was about a 5 minute drive 10:00 Boat departs for the Island 10:30 Boat arrives, guide gives you a short walk around and explains what you can do 15:00 Boat departs from the island back to the mainland (can be earlier at 13:00) 15:30 Drive back to Cebu 19:15 Arrive back in Cebu (length will depend on day and traffic) Review on the Whale Shark organisation itself: We felt it was very chaotic. We understand the ticketing system and waiting our turn but after is where it all goes a little off. When your number is called you have to put a life jacket on and go down to the Rocky water (sea shoes recommended as it’s slippy). They help you get on a small boat (that seats 8-10 guests) where you have to step over waist height seats to be rowed out to the whale sharks. We were unfortunate to have a strong winds therefore making the water rough and a group where two got in the water but weren’t strong enough swimmers, two that had fins therefore kicking everyone trying to get a photo and two more that would get close to the whale shark meaning they were in a lot of our pictures. Overall we feel this could have been managed better and the staff could have been more helpful than “stay near the boat”. We think there should be a smaller number of people on the boats to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Great tour package for our family after deciding that canyoneering was not for us. Day started with an early pickup and even though we had a delay with a flat tire, Harold was able to get us to Oslob safely and after getting our batch number, went on to get light breakfast (sticky rice, ripe mango and hot chocolate. Kudos to Princess for keeping tabs on our schedule and was able to enjoy our swim with the whale sharks and cool down at Tumalog falls before catching the boat ride to Sumilon. We had fun snorkeling there and the lunch buffet was excellent! Great value for the money and highly recommended.

must join. this was a really eye opening experience for everyone who is visiting cebu. driver and tourguide were friendly and on time and took care of us very well. THE WHALESHARKS WERE AMAZING. need to really try this!!!!!! super recommend to everyone.

Highly recommend it 100%! I was a bit worried because I couldn't reach customer service before the trip, but I managed to get in touch with them later. It's also perfect for bringing family along. The whole itinerary was smooth and fulfilling, and you really get to swim with whale sharks. The waterfall along the way was incredibly spectacular, and the lunch was plentiful and delicious. Sumilon Resort is relaxing, and the seawater is crystal clear. A special thanks to our team leader (I think his name was Dean). He was super attentive and friendly, and his photography skills are top-notch. Also, the driver who picked us up and dropped us off drove very safely. It's a very affordable and enriching tour!

The driver AI AI arrived at the hotel on time in the morning for pick-up. When we arrived in Oslo, the guide Luzel enthusiastically explained the whole day's itinerary and asked if there was anything we could help with. Swimming with whale sharks, Tumalo Falls, Sumilon Island, etc. were all completed smoothly. Sumilon Island is a great place to relax and have fun!
