What to expect
Your private day tour of Sri Lanka’s natural wonders begins with the sunset at Lipton’s Seat. After your hotel pick up at Ella, travel to this lookout where you’ll see the view that was once enjoyed by Scottish tea pioneer Sir Thomas Lipton. Have a hearty breakfast, then head to Diyaluma Falls which is the country’s second tallest. It offers some epic views and some of the best infinity pools you’ll see around the world. Head up to Upper Diyaluma to wander around and (if you want) bathe in the waterfalls. Indulge in a delicious packed lunch before heading to the final stop: Ravana Falls. Aside from being one of the widest and most beautiful falls in the country, it is also known for the fascinating story behind its name. According to legend, King Ravana - a character in the epic ‘Ramayana’ - kidnapped a princess named Sita and hid her in the caves behind the waterfall. Learn more about this legend with your English-speaking tour guide while you sip some tea at a nearby stall.

Reviews
Klook Diyaluma falls was top of my list for Sri Lanka and after reading conflicting reviews of hiking up the waterfall some saying find a guide others saying it can be done alone. I decided not to take the risk and book this tour as it came with a guide (Lipton seat at sunrise was a bonus) our driver was very safe and drove up the hills to the peak of liptons seat with great care and pointed out other points of interest along the way. Onto diyaluma falls we met with our guide who took us up to the top, so happy we had the guide with us as there’s no way we would have got to all the viewing points and swimming holes without him. After plenty of time up the top we made our way down to find the guides family had made us a large vegetarian breakfast/ lunch I’m not one for local food but this was amazing and just what we needed! Was an exhausting hot morning but one of the best day trips :)
I had a disappointing start when the driver couldn’t find the right pick up location, even with my Sri Lankan host calling him and explaining it to him. When he eventually found me and we arrived at Lipton Seat, it was far too misty to see anything and the guides English wasn’t that great so it all just became more of a nuisance. The best part was the Diyaluma falls where the guide changed and I had a great time! Ravana falls was just a quick stop not far from town and you could have taken a tuk tuk there for much cheaper. Overall I think the experience was massively overpriced for a solo traveller. I recommend making arrangements when arriving in Ella with the help of the host or wherever you’re staying. It would have been 1/4 of the price.
