What to expect
Board a traditional Japanese yakatabune boat and experience a cultural journey rooted in Japan's long history. Beautifully decorated with seasonal cherry blossom-themed displays and elegant Japanese-style interiors, the boats are perfect for taking photos and creating unforgettable memories. Yakatabune boats were first used by nobility during the Heian period, became popular among merchants and townspeople during the Edo period, and remain a unique way to experience Japanese culture from the water.
These iconic wooden boats trace their history back a thousand years to the Heian period, originally used by nobles and samurai for elegant banquets. By the Edo period, yakatabune had become a popular choice for wealthy merchants and literati to enjoy scenery, socialize, and relax on the water. Today, the boats retain their classic wooden exteriors, tatami mat interiors, and traditional decorative styles, transporting you through time to experience Japan's refined classical culture.
On board, you can enjoy a live shamisen performance—a highly representative traditional Japanese stringed instrument with centuries of history. Once a core instrument in Edo banquets, kabuki theaters, and classical performances, the crisp and melodic tones of the shamisen still captivate audiences today, immersing you in the elegant atmosphere of classical Japanese culture.
This exclusive experience combines traditional yakatabune culture, live shamisen performances, authentic Japanese sukiyaki, and modern waterfront views to create an unforgettable journey exploring Tokyo.
Please note: For the option "90-Minute Evening Cruise with Sukiyaki, Shamisen Performance & Tokyo Tower", the Tokyo Tower tickets must be collected from the on-board guide and are valid for six months.

I absolutely loved this experience and would highly recommend it. the staff we’re all extremely nice. Karen was the host I interacted with most and she was lovely. The food was delicious and our first hot pot experience. the boat is absolutely beautiful and decorated beautifully. they stopped in the middle of the trip and let us go on the roof to get pictures. if you have the chance to do this experience, please consider doing it.
the day was lovely, the boat beautiful and the entertainment was certainly entertaining! but this tour is advertised as a cherry blossom cruise - although there a multiple fake cherry blossoms adorning the inside of the boat, the cherry blossoms outside of the boat are hard to see and hard to photograph due to the shape and design of the boat. the other thing is that any photos you can get are backgrounded by a highway. food was lovely but it would be better to have some sort of western foods too - not everyone likes sushi
I really loved this tour! The guide was so lovely and friendly, and spoke Chinese. The shamisen player was also amazing!
very nice experience and the food is tasty. we had beef and pork. the performance is amazing. they even offer for photography session at the end of shamisen performance. unfortunately no more Sakura but it's okay, we enjoyed the ride very much. *for those with seasick, you might want to consider neds prior to boarding
cultural experience - no sakura as blossoms were gone, but matcha and music both worth the price fo the event. highly recommend
Our cruise was an excellent experience! The staff was incredibly considerate, and our host, Shelia, along with the rest of the crew, went above and beyond—graciously waiting for my family and me despite our late arrival. The tea ceremony was truly memorable, and the highlight of the cruise was the shamisen performance—interactive, engaging, and thoroughly entertaining.
we had a wonderful time. Thanks to Karen and the lovely team for a great evening.
A massive thank you to Ashley. It was so refreshing to have someone who was upbeat and fun. We aren’t big eaters so could have shared a pot of food between us. I felt rude wasting so much beautiful food. The entertainment was good with explanations given of the instruments being used and the songs sung. We were lucky enough to still have some cherry blossoms that had not totally fallen, stopping in front of the Tokyo Skytree for a photo. A pleasant evening.
It was a great experience. Experienced Japan's culture. Ana who guided us in the tour was very polite and nice. Loved it.
Amazing yakatabune experience with lively traditional Japanese music, engaging and entertaining guide, and great food. Highly recommend!
