What to expect

Hello, distinguished guests, everyone. Below is the reference itinerary for the day: If you choose a package including a boat, please be aware: 3 people per boat, you may share a boat with other customers~ Special Gift Announcement “Japanese-style sweets” will be given from October 1st; special gift: one-way shuttle service to Takachiho Gorge~ Due to the long walking distance, this itinerary is not recommended for elderly people or those with mobility issues. Thank you for your understanding.

Visit Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine Climbing step by step along the approach lined with nearly 100 lanterns, it feels like entering another fantastical and strange world. It is also famous for being the setting of the well-known works [Hotarubi no Mori e] and [Natsume’s Book of Friends].

Origin of Japanese Mythology — Amano Iwato Shrine & Amanoyasukawara Amano Iwato Shrine, famous for wishing by stacking stones at Amanoyasukawara, is located in Takachiho Town, Nishiusuki District, Miyazaki Prefecture. The shrine enshrines Amano Iwato, where deities reside, and is known as a sacred place with immense energy for healing the body and mind, and improving luck. The shrine is divided into the West Main Shrine and the East Main Shrine, and the main deity enshrined in both shrines is Amaterasu Omikami.

Takachiho Gorge Takachiho Gorge is a valley formed by the volcanic eruption of Mount Aso in ancient times. It is characterized by cliffs on both sides, the Manai Waterfall with a drop of 17 meters, and three bridges built over the same gorge, coexisting with the beautiful scenery. There is about a 1-kilometer promenade next to Takachiho Gorge, where many must-see spots of Takachiho Gorge are gathered!

⚠Please note: Due to the long journey, the actual arrival time is greatly affected by traffic and weather factors, and the above times are only estimates. Please do not book any activities after the day's itinerary. The operator will not be responsible for any losses caused by delays.

Review for: Kyushu One-Day Tour: Depart from assembly point

Several of the attractions are natural energy spots, lush with green trees, perfect for breathing in fresh air and clearing your mind, while also learning about the origins of Japanese mythology. Getting to these spots from Fukuoka isn't very convenient, so this tour was a huge help, and the itinerary was very well-planned. Kamishikimi Kumano-imasu Shrine is integrated with nature, surrounded by greenery, much like a place where forest spirits from Princess Mononoke might appear. Amano Iwato Shrine and Amano Yasukawara tell the story of how eight million gods lured Amaterasu Omikami out of hiding. Takachiho Gorge is where the young deity Ninigi-no-Mikoto descended to Ashihara no Nakatsukuni (the Central Land of Reed Plains), and the air there feels divine, inspiring awe. Be prepared for some physical exertion, as there are stairs and hills to climb, but it's definitely worth the effort! Our tour leader, Zheng Yu, switched effortlessly between Chinese and Korean, providing thoughtful guidance and clear instructions. He clearly communicated the meeting times for each stop in advance and also informed us that there wouldn't be a dedicated lunch break, so we'd need to eat during our free time. He also pointed out convenient dining spots. It felt like the time allotted for each location was just right, never rushed. At the end, he even gave us Takachiho Gorge's specialty steamed buns as souvenirs. Despite being the rainy season, it didn't rain, and the weather was incredibly cooperative. Our tour leader was very organized, and our fellow travelers were very nice. It was an excellent experience! Many thanks! 🙏

My family and I participated and we were quite pleased with our guide Sekina. She spoke mostly in Mandarin and honestly I thought her English was passable. She’s very helpful though and was good with her food recommendations. The trip was a little rushed but we did go to 3 places with quite a distance between so the driving time was long.

It was an amazing tour with mesmerising sights. The Tourguide, Thomas, was very nice and friendly. The weather was great too, which made the experience even more enjoyable. At the end, everyone received a present from Thomas, sweets from the region we visited. Overall, the tour was beautiful and wholesome, we definetely recommend!

We had an unforgettable day trip to Takachiho Gorge! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, but what truly made the experience special was our tour guide, Emily. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole journey fun and comfortable. We especially loved that she even gave us omiyage before we were dropped off—a thoughtful gesture that made the trip feel even more personal and memorable. Overall, it was a beautifully organized tour with stunning views and an exceptional guide. Highly recommended!

what a great day out. I was nervous for my first tour but that disappeared in minutes after meeting the guide and group. Sun, our guide, had much knowledge and humour to share. He played photographer and provided us with fantastic food choices.

I think the tour is quite a special one. you can visit these three sites in the countryside. if you like being in nature , this is a good choices. just let you know that it takes 2.5hours go and return. you have not have a lot of time in each area but it was long enough for the visit but just not a slow peacing ! also it required a bit of walk. however we loved it ! thanks for organising this tour thanks

Our guide was a male guide who was fluent in both Chinese and Korean. He explained each attraction in both languages and provided all the necessary information, which made the trip very enjoyable. It was a little difficult to find the group at Fukuoka Station since the tour operator's flag didn't specify the course, but thankfully we found them before departure. I specifically booked this tour because it was the only one that included Takachiho Gorge and the shrines I really wanted to visit. The time allocation and arrival times for each location were perfect, making the trip very fun. Thank you for giving us each a local specialty "manju"! Places like Hita, Yufuin, and Dazaifu are easy to get to on your own, but since Takachiho Gorge requires traveling all the way down to Miyazaki, it's quite difficult to get to unless you rent a car or travel within the region. If this tour is available, it should be your top priority!

I think I applied at a bad time because I was the only Korean person there. Despite being alone, the guide sat me right behind them and kept explaining things again in Korean. Thanks to them, I was able to enjoy the tour. Since the guide had been working as a guide in Korea, they explained the differences by comparing it to tourist attractions in Korea with a high level of understanding. I came alone so I gave up on getting personal photos, but they made sure to take pictures for me at the photo spots so I was able to get some personal photos! It was a great trip. I'm so grateful, I'm even uploading the business card they gave me to show shopkeepers in case I got lost so you can know who it was! Thank you for the 1-on-1 tutoring!

very nice trips which cover most of the interesting places. if each place can allocate additional of half an hour, then it would be nicer. or else it's abit rush for elderly when they can't walk so fast and unable to catch up with the fast pace.
