Reviews
It's a relaxed timeline. Covered all you can cover in Nuwara Eliya. Driver added the old post office to the tour. That was good. We changed the tea factory to Damro, and that was a better option. Gregory Lake was not as inviting. I was picked up at Negombo and had me dropped at Colombo. There were extra charges. Would be good to include as an option. Driver Hemantha was accommodating and did a very good job in showing me around.
Our guide Nuwan was very friendly and professional. He customised and shifted items in the itinerary to our liking. But spice garden (name was Island 25) was a huge tourist trap. For tea garden tour the description suggested that we will be given a tour of the actual gardens and see the plucking of tea leaves but we only got to see some machines in a factory which had an overpriced shop at the end. Ramboda waterfalls were also only shown from many kilometers away when the description suggested we could take a dip in it. Maybe the distances were too much so no complaints about our guide but the operator and lister of this tour ought to be held responsible for it. Tour description had also promised a private mini van transfer but we only got a sedan. The good nature of the guide and great views of nuwara eliya, seetha temple, gregory lake and hakgala gardens were the only saving grace of this tour. Otherwise the tour provider cannot be relied upon to deliver exactly what is written. Reconfirm details with operator many times before day of the tour arrives.
I stayed in Negombo and it was quite a long trip to Nuwara Eliya. My driver/guide navigates the road expertly and I felt safe. The bottled water which is important for a travel this distance was forgotten until I asked for one during lunch. I was actually ticking the list as per the itinerary listed here but it wasn't exacty so. It is better that at least a day before, the tour operator should contact the traveller for a run down of the 2-day trip. Overall, I am still happy. Amazing views and a lovely breakfast in one of the tea estate which made up for the disappointing lunch on day one.
