Great hotel right near Kyoto train station. We took the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto and the hotel was very easy to get to. Lots of restaurants and shopping right near by. Nice hotel breakfast.

Clean rooms. Hotel lobby is directly below Kintetsu Kyoto railway station, making it very convenient.

Great location. The hotel is at the station which made it easier to get to and from the shinkansen. They store your bags for free, so you can start your exploring as soon as you arrive.

The foyer looks really classy. Then you get to your room, and it's really below the expectations that the foyer has set. Basically, if you book a standard room, it is unrenovated and extremely, extremely old. Think chips in furniture, some permanent stains, musty smell etc. This hotel also wins the dubious award of smallest room in Tokyo and Kyoto, amongst all hotels I've stayed in. So don't trust the photos for the standard rooms. I believe the comfort rooms and so on are the renovated rooms, which are probably in much better conditions.
What is genuinely unbeatable is the location and the helpful staff. The hotel is located at the train station itself which makes it really easy to travel from here to other places in Kyoto. (That said, there are other great hotels located right opposite the train station, I did try those out too.) And the staff were really wonderfully friendly and helpful.
