Cu Chi Tunnel

Explore Cu Chi Tunnels, an intricate network of underground tunnels steeped in history, which played a vital role in the Vietnam War. Serving as a base for the Viet Cong troops, these tunnels span over 250 kilometers (155 miles) and include hidden entrances, living quarters, hospitals and storage facilities. Situated in Cu Chi District, northwest of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, the Cu Chi Tunnels were built in the late 1940s during the first Indochina war against the French colonialists, and expanded during the Vietnam War. They were designed with hidden trapdoors, ventilation holes disguised as termite mounds and booby traps to evade enemy troop presence. They were also used as communication and supply routes for launching surprise attacks against enemy forces. Today, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a popular historical site, where visitors can crawl through sections of the tunnels and gain a deeper understanding of the region's tumultuous past.

Definitely a walk down the history of Vietnam War which I always thought to be a civil war between the north and south. But it turns out to be one with the Americans. The guide (Ms Thuyen) is friendly and knowledgeable. She told some jokes which I don't get it but the children were amused.

The package was definitely worth it. It had some side trips beside the 2 main attractions, got a lot of delicacies and food to taste for free aside from the free lunch, got to do a lot of activities, learned so much about history and culture from our guide, Rick. Would really recommend solo/friends/family to try this tour!

Fantastic 5.0
A really high quality tour. Started off with a pleasant pick up in a really spacious & clean limousine, not forgetting comfortable seats. Our guide Lucky, briefed us through the day’s programme and also gave us a very interesting overview of the Vietnam war history - leading to our visit to Cu Chi’s tunnel. We stopped by a handicapped art & craft centre, then to the tunnels - with a guided background at every point! Lunch was good too, a healthy Vietnamese cuisine. Our last stop to Mekong was another pleasant surprise. Started off w a boat ride to the Coconut Island - coconut candy factory, saw the snake wine, followed by spread of local fruits w local music from the locals, a wide selection of local chocolates. A serene walk through the kampung into the final highlight! The sampan ride, which was truly serene. We were fed throughout the trip at every point, the entire hospitality was truly memorable. A highly recommended tour!

Our tour guide Anna was a pleasant girl. She speaks clear English. They will pick the guests up from their respective hotels. We were the first ones to be fetched by them. The tour guide was very punctual. By 730, the tour guide was already at the lobby waiting for us. She asked the reception to call us. Then, the bus will drive around to nearby hotels to fetch other guests. The journey to My Tho was roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. We reached our first destination at around 10AM which was a temple. Then, we proceeded to the Boat terminal to board a big boat to reach an island. The first stop was to have tea and some local fruits while some local girls performed a singing performance to us. Then, we proceeded to take a sampan boat ride through the narrow Mekong river path where our big boat was waiting for us. Each boat can carry 4 passengers. Then, we headed to a coconut candy factory to learn the process of making coconut candy. Lastly, we had lunch at a nearby restaurant and left at 2.

We had an amazing experience with DU, our tour guide for the Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta tour. From the very beginning he was friendly, energetic, and extremely knowledgeable. He explained the history of the Vietnam War and the Cu Chi tunnels in a simple and engaging way, making it interesting for everyone in the group. What impressed us the most was how patient he was — always answering questions, helping us take photos, and making sure everyone was comfortable. He also guided us through the tunnels, shared real local stories, and showed hidden aspects we would have otherwise missed. The Mekong Delta part of the trip was equally enjoyable. DU introduced us to local culture, fruits, music, and village life. His humour and storytelling kept the atmosphere fun and light throughout the day. We never felt rushed, and he managed everything smoothly including the boat ride, lunch, and activities. Overall, DU made the entire experience memorable. Highly recommended.

Tips before Visiting Ho Chi Minh

1. Plan your trip around the lunar calendar

Before visiting Ho Chi Minh, check the lunar calendar for major festivals like Tet (Lunar New Year) or other cultural attractions and events. These holidays bring colorful parades, temple ceremonies, and traditional performances, but also crowded transport hubs and business closures.

2. You don’t need to carry cash

Ho Chi Minh City is almost cashless! Most coffee shops, food stalls, and shopping centers accept cards or digital payments. Download ride-hailing apps like Grab or Be to easily book and pay for rides, food deliveries, and even accommodation; there's no need to worry about exchanging money or carrying cash around.

3. Embrace the energy and excitement

Ho Chi Minh is a vibrant city that’s always alive with movement and sound. From motorbikes to lively street music, the energy here is contagious! You can embrace it all in! It’s this nonstop rhythm that gives Ho Chi Minh City its unforgettable Southeast Asian charm.

4. Respect personal space (or lack of it)

In Ho Chi Minh City, locals are friendly and warm, but personal space is more relaxed. You might get a pat on the shoulder or a compliment from a friendly stranger; take it as a sign of welcome.

5. Dress smart for temples and pagodas

You can wear almost anything in Vietnam’s largest city, but modest clothing is a must at religious sites. When visiting temples like the Jade Emperor Pagoda or other cultural attractions, cover your shoulders and knees to show respect.
