What is the Swiss Travel Pass?

Say goodbye to multiple bookings and tickets when you have the Swiss Travel Pass. This pass provides unlimited travel on Swiss trains, boats, and buses, as well as on public transport in over 90 towns and cities. You’ll also enjoy free—yes, free—admission to over 500 museums and up to 50% discount on mountain excursions. You’ll be saving time and money when you book the Swiss Travel Pass so that you can focus on sightseeing. The Swiss Travel Pass is available for 3, 4, 6, 8 or 15 days.

How does the Swiss Travel Pass work?

The Swiss Travel Pass comes in 2 variations:

    Flexible Pass

If you’re spending several days in Switzerland and want more time to explore each destination, then the flexible pass is for you. You can use the pass for the selected number of days within a month of activation. You decide which days to activate the pass, so you can have the flexibility of deciding when to visit your next attraction.
When saving your e-ticket, make sure it has all of your important information, then indicate your travel dates to be able to activate the pass.

    Consecutive Pass

If you’re looking to see as many sights as possible, then the consecutive pass is the better option for you. This pass is valid for the selected number of days from the date indicated during booking. It will automatically activate on your selected date, so make sure you’ve got your itinerary planned out to make the most of your pass.
After booking your Swiss Travel Pass on Klook, you’ll receive an e-ticket either as a PDF or as a link. This contains a QR code that should be saved directly on your phone as train conductors will scan this code during travel.
Klook Tip: Check in advance if the trains or buses you’ll be riding require seat reservations as this may incur additional fees.

    Where to go in Switzerland?

With the Swiss Travel Pass, you can check out the top places to visit in Switzerland with no problem at all! Here are some attractions you can’t miss out on:

    1. Head to the Top of Europe

Prepare to take aesthetic photos when you visit one of the highest summits in the Swiss Alps and one of the most popular attractions in Switzerland—Jungfraujoch. ‘Jungfrau’ means maiden, and ‘joch’ means saddle. Jungfraujoch is actually the saddle between Jungfrau and Mönch. Mount Jungfrau, though, was named after the nuns who run a convent in Interlaken.
At Jungfraujoch, about 11,300 ft above sea level, you’ll find your heart beating with excitement at the sheer height of the mountain and its enchanting views. How do you get there? You’ll have to board Europe’s highest train station, Jungfraujoch railway station! At the summit, there are a bunch of attractions you can check out, like the Sphinx Observation Terrace, which is the observation deck of Sphinx Observatory and the second-highest observation deck in all of Switzerland—you’ll be hard-pressed to find better views than this. You can also visit the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps, as well as explore the Ice Palace, a frozen wonderland of ice and snow with ice sculptures and snow tunnels!

    2. Take on Europe’s highest open-air railway

Want to see some of the tallest Swiss mountains with just one trip? Then board the Gornergrat Bahn (or Gornergrat railway) which will take you up 10,170 ft high through stunning landscapes to the summit of Mount Gornergrat. From there, you’ll be able to enjoy views of the Alps’ four-thousanders—mountains and summits that are at least 4,000 meters (13,123 ft) high, like Dufourspitze, Castor, and Pollux. Gornergrat also has an exquisite view of the Matterhorn, as well as a photo point to perfectly frame you and one of the most majestic peaks in the Alps in one photo. You should also prepare to be wowed by the sight of Gorner Glacier which will leave you speechless; the photos just don’t do it justice!
This tour also includes a stop at Zermatt, a charming little town in the Swiss Alps, for some souvenir shopping. Aside from boutiques, they’ve also got ice skating and curling rinks, skiing slopes, and climbing and hiking trails.
Fun Fact: Gornergrat’s peak is actually above the clouds!

    3. Enjoy the snowy landscape at Glacier 3000

Welcome to the winter wonderland that is Glacier 3000! Get ready for an exciting journey up the alpine mountains to get to Glacier 3000, the highest point of the Vaudois Alps. Why is it called Glacier 3000? Because it’s a glacier region and some of the peaks in the area reach more than 3,000 meters (9,842 ft) high!
Once you reach the snowy landscape, you can enjoy a variety of winter activities, like rides with sledge dogs, toboggan rides on the Alpine Coaster, and a snow bus tour to explore the glaciers. There’s also the Glacier Walk, where you’ll be able to literally walk on ice! In the summer, you’ll actually be able to see the ice, but in the winters, it’s usually covered with snow.
If you’re feeling a little brave, we invite you to take on the Peak Walk, which is a suspension bridge situated between two mountain peaks—who knew sightseeing could give you such a rush! But if you prefer to just appreciate the view, you can actually spot 24 alpine peaks from Glacier 3000, including the Matterhorn, Mont-Blanc, and Jungfrau.

    4. Satisfy your appetite at this revolving restaurant with a view

Head up to the summit of Mount Schilthorn and its Piz Gloria deck for a panoramic view of Titlis, Jungfrau, Mönch, Eiger, Mont Blanc, and the Black Forest. This is also the home of the world’s first revolving restaurant where you can dine with a view! Seriously, you’ll want to stick around for the spellbinding views at this mountain. Good thing there are benches for if you need a moment to take in the scenery!
For those wanting even more views of the snow-capped peaks, the Skyline Walk is the way to go. It’s an observation platform situated over a vertical precipice, so you can have unobstructed views of the Alps. But for adrenaline junkies, you can appease you thirst for adventure while sightseeing by going on the Thrill Walk, a pathway right next to the mountain’s imposing walls and overlooking the landscape below—there’s also a crawl-through tunnel and a glass-bottomed floor to add even more excitement to your journey.
Fun Fact: Fans of 007 will be eager to know that Mount Schilthorn was actually the main filming location for the James Bond film, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” This is why there’s an interactive exhibit, titled Spy World, on the mountain for those who want to see the props and behind-the-scenes photos from the movie.

    5. Soar above the Swiss Alps

    paragliding among the snow-capped mountains
If you thought you couldn’t get any higher when visiting the Swiss Alps, you thought wrong. Get a bird’s eye view of the Alps on this tandem paragliding experience in Interlaken. Experience a first-class flight as your soar above some of the most popular Swiss mountains, like Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. You’ll also be able to see Lake Brienz and Lake Thun on your flight. If you need a little courage, we recommend just focusing on the captivating views as the certified pilots are there to ensure a safe, seamless, and scenic flight!
From Interlaken, there’s actually a ton more to explore! For those who prefer on-the-ground sightseeing, then we recommend heading up to Harder Kulm (4,447 ft high) from the town. There, you’ll be able to see the mountains and the two lakes from the comfort of a viewing platform. This spot is also the perfect place to catch the sunset as the light reflects off of the lakes.
A short walk from the Interlaken Ost Railway Station, you can board the rack-rail road up to Schynige Platte for panoramic viewpoints at 7,000 ft high. By Schynige Platte station, there’s also a beautiful Alpine Garden with more than 600 species of flora and other plants that love the cold weather.
Ready for the trip of a lifetime? You can actually book your Swiss Travel Pass ahead of your trip as you start prepping your itinerary, planning your outfits, and more, plus the Swiss Travel Pass is refundable up to one day before ‘valid from’ date. So, what are you waiting for? The Alps await!
