While Hồ Chí Minh City (or Saigon) has many of Vietnam’s famous tourist spots, like Book Street and Landmark 81, its rich coffee culture is undeniably one of its defining traits. Your trip wouldn’t be complete without visiting a couple of cafes.
For you to enjoy the best coffee in Hồ Chí Minh City, we’ve made a list of its must-visit coffee spots. We’ll work our way to popular cafes, establishments with coffee classes, and specialty coffee shops.

Cafes you should try at least once

    Cộng Cà Phê

Cộng Cà Phê is probably the most popular cafe where you can get traditionally strong Vietnamese coffee. It’s easy to access with multiple branches across the city.
Try the Cà Phê Cốt Dừa (coconut coffee) for a rich mix of bitterness and sweetness, and the Bạc Xỉu (white coffee) for a light, milky drink.

    Oasis Cafe

Have a unique dining time surrounded by koi fish
Oasis Cafe is famous for its garden-like design and relaxing ambience. Enjoy fresh ingredients on your plates and rich coffee while surrounded by ponds full of koi fish. If you want an Instagrammable cafe, this is for you!
Oasis Cafe is a popular spot among locals and tourists alike, so expect it to be full. You are guaranteed a table when you go on a cafe hopping half-day tour around Hồ Chí Minh.
On this tour, a local guide will take you to sites like the pink Tân Định Church and Vĩnh Nghiêm Pagoda, with stops at Hồ Chí Minh’s coffee spots like Cộng Cà Phê and Oasis Cafe. It’s an easy way to cross things off of your Vietnam bucket list.

    Nicotin Coffee

What’s a Hồ Chí Minh trip without a visit to The Cafe Apartment? There are lots of cafes here, but we recommend trying Nicotin Coffee, a cafe connected to a pottery studio.
Take your shoes off to embrace the wooden furnishings, clay pots, and indoor plants. Order a Cà Phê Kem Mặn (salted cream coffee) or a Coldbrew Khế (cold brew with starfruit jam) and enjoy the zen atmosphere with a balcony view of the Nguyễn Huệ walking street. It’s a unique coffee experience in Hồ Chí Minh City!
Klook Tip: Many cafes and establishments are in old apartments and will require you to climb a flight of stairs. So before your trip, it might be good to do some cardio training.

Are you curious so far? Lucky you, there are coffee shops in Hồ Chí Minh City that give in-depth classes on Vietnamese coffee!
The Provincial Table is a go-to for tourists who want to take a course for 4 variations of Vietnamese coffee: Egg Coffee, Dark Roast Condensed Milk Coffee, Sea Salt Coffee, Coconut Milk Coffee. Don’t be intimidated; people who’ve taken this have had a fun experience!
The English-speaking teacher is clear with instructions and is very friendly to talk to. Plus, each participant gets their own equipment, so it’s very hands-on!

One of the best specialty coffee shops in Saigon is Lacàph Coffee Experiences Space. Stepping into their store, you can immediately tell they put a lot of thought into their coffee. Try out some of their signature blends and traditional coffee drinks.
We recommend the Lacàph Filter Blend for zesty, chocolatey notes (perfect for a hot day), and their Egg Coffee that tastes and feels like tiramisu! You’ll definitely see why this is one of Hồ Chí Minh’s best coffee spots.
They also offer a Vietnamese coffee workshop! Make 3 drinks: Bạc Xỉu (traditional white coffee), Cà Phê Muối (popular salt coffee), and Phin Con Panna (their unique creation). It’s an insightful class that has been enjoyed by more than 2,000 people!

For a deeper dive, we highly recommend Sipply Specialty Coffee (near Bến Thành Market) for a high-quality coffee experience. Aside from serving traditional Vietnamese coffee, they roast their own beans.
We recommend ordering The Muse beans (which have fruity and floral notes) for pour-over, a perfect pairing for the tropical weather.
They have more beans to choose from. Plus, the staff are very friendly and interactive! They’ll ask for your preference on coffee so they can bring out specific notes from the beans. It’s a very fun, exciting visit where you can get some of the best coffee in Saigon.

    Cafe Oshima’s

Cafe Oshima’s is known for its excellent coffee drinks and Instagrammable aesthetics. Grab a seat under the trees and enjoy top-notch beans prepared from their roastery.
We recommend the Colombia Granja Paraiso 92 for a sake-like fragrance with sweet notes of mango and cantaloupe. To spice things up, you should also try their Sgt. Pepper, a cold brew mixed with orange, lemon, chili, and cinnamon. It packs quite the punch!
With consistent quality in their various drinks, Cafe Oshima’s is certainly one of Hồ Chí Minh’s best coffee spots.
