Taichung Half-Day Tour: Gaomei Wetlands Shuttle & Pineapple Cake DIY

there was a problem with the van’s ac when we were picked up from the station. the guide dropped us in miyahara to change the car thankfully. the driver/guide (mr. wang) was very friendly and can speak fluent english! we were joined with Japanese tourists in the middle of the tour and the guide can also speak Japanese! Gaomei wetland’s sunset was magnificent! we enjoyed this tour very much

It was drizzling during our visit to the Gaomei Wetlands, but it didn’t affect the atmosphere of the trip. Watching the sunset at Gaomei Wetlands was truly a wonderful experience not to be missed when traveling in Taichung. Despite the language barrier, the tour guide that day was very attentive to us throughout the trip.

We joined the Gaomei Wetlands tour, meeting at Miyahara Ophthalmology at 3:15 PM. Although Rainbow Village wasn't initially on the itinerary, the tour guide informed us on the day that it was included, and it became our first destination. Afterward, we proceeded to Gaomei Wetlands. We were dropped off near Fengjia Night Market just before 7:00 PM for dismissal. We were the only Japanese participants; the rest of the group was from Singapore, the UK, and the Netherlands. Our tour guide provided explanations in English, took photos for us at Rainbow Village, and was very friendly. Gaomei Wetlands was incredibly beautiful. I highly recommend taking off your shoes and socks and wading into the water.

This was a convenient way to get to Gaomei Wetlands if you don't have a car! The itinerary was perfectly timed to catch the sunset, and it was nice to end at Feng Chia night market at dinner time. Our guide, Axl, took good care of us. He was a safe driver and helped me take some great pictures. While the guides have no control over the weather, we lucked out and got great views at the wetlands, even if it was extremely windy! The only criticism is that after booking the shuttle service, we got an email that included Rainbow Village in the itinerary, leading to some confusion. The shuttle service just picks up at Miyahara and heads to Gaomei Wetlands for one photo stop and then around an hour at the boardwalk where you get the best views. I didn't expect to go to Rainbow Village so it wasn't an issue for me, but I recommend that the company fix that email.

The overall itinerary was incredibly smooth. From Rainbow Village and Gaomei Wetlands to Fengjia Night Market, every stop was perfectly timed—never rushed, never boring. The tour guide was very friendly and professional, meticulously explaining local culture and stories throughout the trip, making it much more than just sightseeing. At Rainbow Village, they even helped us find the best photo spots and patiently took pictures for us, which was a great experience. Gaomei Wetlands was one of my favorite places. The guide thoughtfully reminded us of the best time to watch the sunset and also advised us on safety and tides, which made me feel very secure. At Fengjia Night Market, they recommended many delicious foods, not just randomly leading us around, but suggesting truly worthwhile stalls. We didn't have to worry about trying anything bad. Overall, this experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend this guide to anyone visiting Taiwan!👍

This was my first time visiting Rainbow Village, and our tour guide explained its history in great detail. Although the weather wasn't ideal and it kept raining, preventing us from seeing the sunset at Gaomei Wetlands, we did get to see the large wind turbines and walk along the boardwalk. My mom also had a wonderful time, and I highly recommend this half-day tour!

Our guide, Max, led us, and he was incredibly friendly right from the start. The music and atmosphere in the car were great throughout the ride! He gave excellent, detailed explanations at each destination and was so kind and entertaining! Thanks to him, my friends and I made wonderful memories! The food he recommended at Fengjia Night Market was also truly delicious!

I'm typing this right after joining the tour. My guide was Max. He contacted me via text message the day before the tour, which put me at ease. Although I understand English, there was a moment when I struggled to find the right words, and he thoughtfully used a translation app to help us communicate in Japanese. I had visited Rainbow Village on my own about 10 years ago, and I was surprised by the changes in the surrounding environment since then. When I asked if the absence of the grandfather's brush paintings was due to deterioration, he explained that there was a deeper reason, which greatly expanded my knowledge. Thank you, Max. And then, the main attraction, Gaomei Wetlands. My goal was to take photos capturing the reflection on the water's surface, so I waited from the embankment until sunset. It turned out to be a wonderful day, as he mentioned, 'It's rare to have such perfect conditions.' He also gave me recommendations for the night market, so I'm looking forward to enjoying Fengjia Night Market afterward. Thank you again.

Thanks, Max! I had a comfortable trip thanks to the guide's kind explanations and the KakaoTalk message beforehand, letting me know when and where to meet. Since I was traveling alone, they even offered to take pictures for me. It was a fun tour! I'm glad I booked the Gomi Wetlands tour because the Sunday weather forecast was good. There were a lot of people since it was Sunday, but the sunset peeking through the crowd seemed even more spectacular. I think I'll cherish the memory of this sunset for a long time.
