Alishan & Fenqihu Day Tour (Departing from Taichung & Chiayi)

Our driver, Yang, picked us up right on time and picked up 3 other people. Our group had 7 people in total riding in his Mercedes Benz. Super comfy. We had 2 stops before heading to Alishan. 1st was short and we saw a guy walk over firecrackers. 2nd, we had a bento lunch with the mountain view. We finally made it to Alishan Park. The roads were windy and bumpy so if you have motion sickness, be prepared with medicine or saltine crackers. It's a long ride into the park. Yang took us around the park & showed us the best places to take pictures. He took photos for us and sent through Whatsapp. He even made a video for us as a keepsake! He also brought us to a tea farm afterwards! The ride back was also hard for those with motion sickness, but I made it. Yang dropped off the other passengers and he even dropped us off at another location since we didn't want to go back to our hotel yet. He was the best! We loved Alishan!

Excellent operator. Picked up at the hotel on time. The driver, Moose, spoke fluent English and was very communicative. The car was very comfortable, a Mercedes. We visited all the places on the itinerary. The scenery in Alishan was truly beautiful. Moose showed us good photo spots and helped take pictures; the results were amazing. This tour does not include Alishan entrance tickets or train tickets. These can be purchased on Klook. I highly recommend this operator. And with Klook, everything is easy.

A great way to explore the hills and forest of Chiayi County. The travel time is quite high from Taichung (around 2hrs 30 mins each way), but it's worth it once you get there - we get around 3 to 4 hours time in the actual forest itself, with a train ride and a guided hike through the forest, as well as some free time to explore. The first stop, the temple is quite unremarkable, but after that the town, railway and the forest are breathtaking. The guide Ivan did a great job by himself, managing our group, giving us recommendations and facts as well as taking great photos for us , as well as navigating through the challenging mountain roads.

I booked this tour after searching for a nature-focused day trip during my 3-night, 4-day free travel in Taichung! The tour was absolutely, incredibly wonderful. The driver and guide picked me up promptly from my Airbnb and took great care of me throughout the day, making it easy to get around. Alishan is a lush, atmospheric forest, just like something out of Princess Mononoke, a kind of place you truly can't see in Korea. The train stations along the way were just okay (they felt more like typical tourist spots, and the impact of Alishan itself was so great that they felt less impressive by comparison). But walking through the forest, with trees that looked like they were all at least 30 feet tall, was truly overwhelming! I think my parents would have loved it if I had brought them along. And by using Google Translate's conversation feature, I could understand everything the guide said, so there were no language barriers. Anyway, I highly recommend this for anyone who loves nature!

We enjoyed the experience of taking the forest railway branch line to Zhaoping Station, then walking along the trail past the Sister Ponds and the Giant Tree Plank Trail, admiring the thousand-year-old red cypress and giant tree landscapes. It was a fulfilling and relaxing trip. Xiao Xin led us comfortably, took great care of everyone, and even took wonderful photos for us! Our overall travel experience far exceeded expectations! Our tour leader, Seven, was very experienced, ensuring we gathered on time and followed up throughout the trip. Everything was perfectly organized, whether it was riding the forest train, admiring the sacred trees, or visiting the observation deck. She patiently answered all our questions along the way and even shared local travel tips. Alishan's natural scenery is captivating, and with such a reliable tour leader, this trip was exceptionally fulfilling. I genuinely recommend it to anyone planning to visit Alishan!

Our Alishan trip was amazing, thanks to our driver, Ivan! It was a small group tour and the hotel pick-up made everything so convenient. Ivan was so helpful with all our requests and really looked after my family. He knew exactly where the best photo spots were and helped us pace our walk since the trails can be quite long. We really appreciated his patience and local knowledge. Highly recommended!

Our tour guide was Seven. His explanations of each attraction were very clear, from the location introduction to the cultural background, all delivered in a very organized manner that made it easy to understand. Along the way, Seven also recommended local delicacies and shopping locations, allowing us to taste authentic flavors and buy high-quality local products. In Alishan, he specifically explained why the trees in Alishan grow so spectacularly, and how some of the precious trees were transported away during the Japanese rule. He also shared the origin story of the Alishan Temple, which sounded very interesting and added cultural depth to the entire journey. Throughout the trip, his driving skills were very steady and professional, making us feel safe and comfortable all the way. Seven was also very willing to help and take photos. In addition, there were seven travel companions in our group, and everyone got along very well, creating a harmonious and happy group atmosphere. Overall, we were very satisfied with this trip, and Seven's guided tour made the trip even more wonderful and fulfilling. Highly recommended to everyone!

Despite the rainy weather during our visit, we still had a great time exploring Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. The scenery was beautiful and the cool weather made the walk even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the forest railway/train was closed during our visit, but there was still plenty to see and experience. Overall, it was a memorable trip and definitely worth visiting.
